Background: Major depressive disorder has been shown to be associated with inflammation and the dysregulation of innate immune responses. Previously, we showed an inverse correlation between the severity of depression and level of TNFAIP3 mRNA expression. The present study further evaluated the association between TNFAIP3 mRNA expression level and symptoms of major depressive disorder (MDD) in 91 patients (20 men and 71 women).
Methods: The relationships between subscores on the 17-item Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAMD-17) and TNFAIP3 mRNA levels were assessed by multiple linear regression.
Results: Only psychological anxiety on the HAMD-17 correlated significantly with TNFAIP3 mRNA expression. Other symptoms, such as depressed mood, insomnia, work and activities, and suicide, were not associated with TNFAIP3 mRNA expression.
Conclusion: These findings suggest a significant association between anxiety and TNFAIP3 mRNA levels in patients with MDD.

Introduction: Hashimoto's thyroiditis (HT) is a chronic autoimmune disorder. As antigen-presenting cells, dendritic cells(DCs) play a pivotal role in inducing programmed cell death (PCD) types, contributing to immune disorders. This study aimed to identify genes associated with multiple PCD pathways in dendritic cells within the thyroid tissue of patients with HT.

BTB and CNC homology 1 (BACH1) plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of acute lung injury (ALI) caused by gram-negative bacteria. However, its exact mechanisms and roles in Staphylococcus aureus (SA)-induced ALI, a gram-positive bacterial infection, remain incompletely understood. In this study, we generated a BACH1-knockout mouse model (BACH1-/-) to investigate the role of BACH1 and its underlying mechanisms in regulating the development of sepsis-induced acute lung injury (ALI).

Shoutai Wan (STW) is a traditional Chinese medicine formula used to treat various conditions. The objective of this study was to evaluate the impact of STW on the abortion rate in the URSA mouse model and elucidate its underlying molecular mechanisms. Female CBA/J mice were mated with male DBA/2 mice to establish the URSA model.

Paratuberculosis or Johne's disease (JD), a chronic granulomatous gastroenteritis caused by subsp. (MAP), causes huge economic losses and reduces animal welfare in dairy cattle herds worldwide. At present, molecular mechanisms and biological functions involved in immune responses to MAP infection of dairy cattle are not clearly understood.

The NLRP3 inflammasome, a pivotal component of innate immunity, has been implicated in various inflammatory disorders. The ubiquitin-editing enzyme A20 is well known to regulate inflammation and maintain homeostasis. However, the precise molecular mechanisms by which A20 modulates the NLRP3 inflammasome remain poorly understood.
