: Following tooth extraction, resveratrol (RSV) can support healing by reducing inflammation and microbial risks, though its poor solubility limits its effectiveness. This study aims to develop a solid nanocomposite by embedding RSV in lipid nanoparticles (mLNP) within a hydrophilic matrix, to the scope of improving local delivery and enhancing healing. Hydroxyapatite (HXA), often used as a bone substitute, was added to prevent post-extraction alveolus volume reduction.

This paper addresses the author's current understanding of the physics of interactions in polymers under a voltage field excitation. The effect of a voltage field coupled with temperature to induce space charges and dipolar activity in dielectric materials can be measured by very sensitive electrometers. The resulting characterization methods, thermally stimulated depolarization (TSD) and thermal-windowing deconvolution (TWD), provide a powerful way to study local and cooperative relaxations in the amorphous state of matter that are, arguably, essential to understanding the glass transition, molecular motions in the rubbery and molten states and even the processes leading to crystallization.

The deformation monitoring of integrated truss structures (ITSs) is essential for ensuring the reliable performance of mounted equipment in complex space environments. Reconstruction methods based on local strain information have been proven effective, yet the identification faces significant challenges due to variable thermal-mechanical loads, interactions among structural components, and special boundary conditions. This paper proposes a deformation reconstruction strategy tailored for ITSs under combined thermal-mechanical load scenarios wherein deformations of both the primary truss structures and the attached panel systems are investigated.

Multi-Person Localization Based on a Thermopile Array Sensor with Machine Learning and a Generative Data Model.

Sensors (Basel)

January 2025

Laboratory of Adaptive Lighting Systems and Visual Processing, Technical University of Darmstadt, Hochschulstr. 4a, 64289 Darmstadt, Germany.

Thermopile sensor arrays provide a sufficient counterbalance between person detection and localization while preserving privacy through low resolution. The latter is especially important in the context of smart building automation applications. Current research has shown that there are two machine learning-based algorithms that are particularly prominent for general object detection: You Only Look Once (YOLOv5) and Detection Transformer (DETR).

Localized and Excimer Triplet Electronic States of Naphthalene Dimers: A Computational Study.

Molecules

January 2025

Istituto di Biostrutture e Bioimmagini-CNR (IBB-CNR), Via De Amicis 95, I-80145 Napoli, Italy.

We perform DFT calculations with different hybrid (ωB97X-D and M05-2X) and double hybrid (B2PLYP-D3 and ωB2PLYP) functionals to characterize the lowest energy triplet excited states of naphthalene monomer and dimers in different stacking arrangements and to simulate their absorption spectra. We show that both excimer and localized triplet minima exist. In the former, the spin density is delocalized over the two monomers, adopting a face-to-face arrangement with a short inter-molecular distance.
