Stroke is one of the leading causes of death and disability worldwide and poses a tremendous socioeconomic burden upon individuals, countries and healthcare systems. It causes debilitating symptoms and thus interferes with many aspects of the patient's life, including physical functioning, cognition, emotional status, activities of daily living, social reintegration and quality of life. Post-stroke patients frequently experience functional motor disabilities of the upper limb, which restrict autonomy and self-efficacy and cause limitations in engagement with activities and social participation, as well as difficulties in performing important occupations.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) involves challenges in communication and social interaction, including challenges in recognizing emotions. Existing technological solutions aim to improve social behaviors in individuals with ASD by providing learning aids. This paper presents a real-time environmental translator designed to enhance social behaviors in individuals with ASD using sensory substitution.

Emotional stimuli play a crucial role in sports behavior decision-making as they significantly influence individuals' responses and decisions in sports contexts. However, existing research predominantly relies on traditional psychological and behavioral methods, lacking in-depth analysis of the complex relationship between emotions and sports behavior, particularly in the integration of real-time emotion recognition and sports behavior decision-making. To address this issue, we propose a deep learning-based model, RDA-MTE, which efficiently extracts and enhances feature interaction capabilities to capture and recognize facial expressions, thereby analyzing the impact of emotional stimuli on sports behavior decision-making.

Enormous progress has been made in the last 20 years since the publication of our review [1] in this journal on transport and traffic phenomena in biology. In this brief article we present a glimpse of the major advances during this period. First, we present similarities and differences between collective intracellular transport of a single micron-size cargo by multiple molecular motors and that of a cargo particle by a team of ants on the basis of the common principle of load-sharing.

The distinctive physiology of striatal medium spiny neurons (MSNs) underlies their ability to integrate sensory and motor input. In rodents, MSNs have a hyperpolarized resting potential and low input resistance. When activated, they have a delayed onset of spiking and regular spike rate.
