Achieving complex self-organization in vitro has remained a fundamental challenge in tissue engineering. A recent study in Developmental Cell by Hughes and colleagues uses computational and experimental approaches to understand and control the morphogenic process of tissue folding. These approaches provide an engineering framework to reproducibly control tissue shape.

The surface morphology of the developing mammalian brain is crucial for understanding brain function and dysfunction. Computational modeling offers valuable insights into the underlying mechanisms for early brain folding. Recent findings indicate significant regional variations in brain tissue growth, while the role of these variations in cortical development remains unclear.

Biopsy is considered the gold standard for diagnosing brain tumors, but its invasive nature can pose risks to patients. Additionally, tissue analysis can be cumbersome and inconsistent among observers. This research aims to develop a cost-effective, non-invasive, MRI-based computer-aided diagnosis tool that can reliably, accurately and swiftly identify brain tumor grades.

Background: Simulated microgravity environment can lead to gastrointestinal motility disturbance. The pathogenesis of gastrointestinal motility disorders is closely related to the stem cell factor (SCF)/c-kit signaling pathway associated with intestinal flora and Cajal stromal cells. Moreover, intestinal flora can also affect the regulation of SCF/c-kit signaling pathway, thus affecting the expression of Cajal stromal cells.

ConspectusStructural DNA nanotechnology offers a unique self-assembly toolbox to construct soft materials of arbitrary complexity, through bottom-up approaches including DNA origami, brick, wireframe, and tile-based assemblies. This toolbox can be expanded by incorporating interactions orthogonal to DNA base-pairing such as metal coordination, small molecule hydrogen bonding, π-stacking, fluorophilic interactions, or the hydrophobic effect. These interactions allow for hierarchical and long-range organization in DNA supramolecular assemblies through a DNA-minimal approach: the use of fewer unique DNA sequences to make complex structures.

This work presents the design, fabrication, and rigorous validation of a flexible, wireless, capacitive pressure sensor for the full-range continuous monitoring of ventricular pressure. The proposed system consists of an implantable set and an external readout device; both modules were designed to form an RCL resonant circuit for passive, wireless pressure sensing and signal retrieving. Using surface micromachining and flexible electronics techniques, a two-variable capacitor array and a dual-layer planar coil were integrated into a flexible ergonomic substrate, avoiding hybrid-like connections in the implantable set.
