Objective: To observe the external morphology of hypopus under a light microscope.

Methods: The samples were collected in a mushroom cultivation base, and the hypopus was isolated and purified. The slide samples were prepared and observed under an optical microscope.

Results: The back body of the hypopus was flat with tiny bristles, the epidermis was of significant ossification, the ventral had four pairs of slender feet stretched, the sucker plate was prosperous in the end of the body, and the sucker plate had eight suckers. The gnathosoma was thin, long and highly specialized.

Conclusions: The light microscopy shows the morphological characteristics of hypopus, providing the basis for identifying and life cycle study.

Time-Dependent Bacterial Contamination of a Surgical Suction Tip.

Surg Infect (Larchmt)

June 2024

Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Children's Mercy Kansas City, Kansas City, Missouri, USA.

No in vitro surgical study has evaluated the time-dependent contamination of surgical suction tips compared with controls. Our purpose was to determine the difference in suction tip bacterial contamination rates between suction-positive and suction-negative tips. A matched-pair analysis of the contamination of surgical suction tips over a six-hour period was performed in two clean operating rooms.

To date, research on abalone adhesion has primarily analyzed the organism's adhesion to smooth surfaces, with few studies on adhesion to non-smooth surfaces. The present study examined the surface morphology of the abalone's abdominal foot, followed by measuring the adhesive force of the abalone on a smooth force measuring plate and five force measuring plates with different surface morphologies. Next, the adhesion mechanism of the abdominal foot was analyzed.

The use of pesticides to control pests, weeds, and diseases or to regulate plant growth is indispensable in agricultural production. However, the excessive use of these chemicals has led to significant concern about their potential negative impacts on health and the environment. Phosmet is one such pesticide that is commonly used on plants and animals against cold moth, aphids, mites, suckers, and fruit flies.

Adhesion is the basic ability of many kinds of animals in nature, which ensures the survival and reproduction of animal populations. The aquatic abalone has a strong adhesion capacity. In this study, we observed the microscopic morphology of abalone abdominal foot surface, and found that the surface was covered with a large number of fibers.
