The aim of the present single-center retrospective study was to investigate the discrimination of malignant transformation from ovarian endometrioma (OE) using a near-infrared approach . Cystic fluid samples were collected from patients with OE (n=34) and endometriosis-associated ovarian cancer (EAOC) (n=12). The light reflected from each sample of cystic fluid [change in luminance, Δl (cd/m) = background luminance-cystic fluid luminance at 800 nm] was spectrally measured by a near-infrared CCD camera with band-path filter (800 nm). The Δl in EAOC was significantly lower compared with that in OE. On regression analysis, a positive correlation was observed between the Δl and Hb level in the cystic fluid, and this association was exponential. The diagnostic sensitivity and specificity of Δl was 83.3 and 94.1% at the cutoff value of 21.5 cd/m, with an area under the ROC curve of 0.897. The present study potentially provides a powerful near-infrared approach for quantitative discrimination between EAOC and benign OE, with high sensitivity and specificity, which may have clinical applications.

Improvements in tumor therapy require a combination of strategies where targeted treatment is critical. We developed a new versatile nanoplatform, MA@E, that generates high levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS) with effective photothermal conversions in the removal of tumors. Enhanced stability liposomes were employed as carriers to facilitate the uniform distribution and stable storage of encapsulated gold nanorods (AuNRs) and Mn-MIL-100 metal-organic frameworks, with efficient delivery of MA@E to the cytoplasm.

Background: Mobile Stroke Units (MSU) shorten time to intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) and improve functional outcome, but they rely on computed tomography (CT) making them highly specialized and costly. Alternative technologies can potentially identify imaging-based IVT contraindications like intracranial hemorrhage (ICH) or malignancies (IM), e.g.

Utilization of indocyanine green for intraoperative sentinel lymph node mapping in canine mammary tumors.

Department of Veterinary Surgery, College of Veterinary Medicine, Chungbuk National University, Cheongju, 28644, Korea.

Accurate staging by sentinel lymph node (SLN) biopsy is essential for improving prognostic outcomes of canine mammary tumors (CMT). Indocyanine green near-infrared fluorescence (ICG-NIRF) imaging offers a novel real-time approach for SLN mapping, potentially enhancing the precision of surgical SLN biopsies. This study evaluated the effectiveness of transcutaneous ICG-NIRF imaging in identifying lymphatic drainage pathways and SLNs in CMT and determined the optimal ICG concentration for visualizing lymphatic channels and SLNs.

Cancer remains a significant global health challenge, driving the search for innovative treatments. Photothermal therapy (PTT) has emerged as a promising approach, using photothermal agents to convert near-infrared (NIR) light into heat for tumor ablation. Among these agents, nano-molybdenum oxide, particularly non-stoichiometric MoO (0 < x < 1), stands out due to its unique defect structure, strong NIR absorption, high photothermal conversion efficiency (PCE), and pH-responsive degradation.

Real-time monitoring of solid dosage forms is crucial in continuous manufacturing processes for detecting product variability and bias and minimizing defective products. Traditional process analytical technologies often struggle to maintain high-throughput production. This study presents a novel approach using near-infrared (NIR) transmission spectroscopy for rapidly and comprehensively assessing the quality of solid dosage forms.
