Article Synopsis
  • - The paper addresses the challenges in allied health workforce planning due to a lack of effective metrics and presents a method for creating population-based indicators specific to podiatry needs in Australia.
  • - Researchers developed a need index using factors like age, gender, diabetes prevalence, and socioeconomic status at a regional level, correlating it with the availability of podiatrists.
  • - The study found a small negative correlation between podiatry supply and the need index, suggesting that a more precise framework can enhance workforce planning and advocacy in allied health professions.
