AI Article Synopsis

  • * Cytotoxicity tests showed that compound 11 was highly effective against multiple cancer cell lines, while compounds 5 and 13 promoted nerve growth factor release in a specific rat cell line.
  • * Further evaluation of anti-inflammatory properties revealed that compounds 7 and 12 significantly inhibited nitric oxide production in activated BV-2 cells without causing notable cell toxicity.

Article Abstract

Investigation of the MeOH extract of Betula schmidtii twigs resulted in the isolation and identification of three new triterpenoids (1-3), along with ten known ones (4-13). The structures of new compounds (1-3) were elucidated by spectroscopic methods, including 1D, 2D NMR (H and C NMR, COSY, HSQC, HMBC, and NOESY), HR-MS, and chemical methods. All the isolated compounds were evaluated for their cytotoxicity against A549, SK-OV-3, SK-MEL-2, and HCT-15 cell lines. Compound 11 exhibited potent cytotoxic activities against four cell lines, and compounds 5 and 13 significantly induced nerve growth factor secretion in a C6 rat glioma cell line. Their anti-inflammatory effects were also assessed by measuring nitric oxide production in lipopolysaccharide-activated BV-2 cells. Compounds 7 and 12 displayed potent inhibition of nitric oxide production, without significant cell toxicity.

Lacustrine wetlands have long-term carbon storage capacity and contribute significantly to regional carbon cycle, but it is unclear how its carbon sinks respond to climate change. We measured soil heterotrophic respiration carbon emissions (CO and CH), vegetation carbon sequestration, and related environmental factors (temperature, water level, .) of five kinds of natural swamps ( marsh-L, marsh-C, swamp-D, swamp-H, swamp-LT)by using static chamber gas chromatography and relative growth equation methods, along the water environmental gradients from lakeside to highlands in Yuanchi of Changbai Mountains.

To understand the effect of seasonal variations on soil microbial communities in a forested wetland ecotone, here, we investigated the dynamics of the diversities and functions of both soil bacterial and fungal communities inhabiting three wetland types (forested wetland, shrub wetland and herbaceous vegetation wetland) from forest-wetland ecotone of northern Xiaoxing'an Mountains spanning different seasons. β-diversity of soil microbial communities varied significantly among different vegetation types (-, , , and wetlands). We totally detected 34 fungal and 14 bacterial indicator taxa among distinctive groups by using Linear discriminant analysis effect size (LEfSe) analysis, and identified nine network hubs as the most important nodes detected in whole fungi, bacteria, and fungi-bacteria networks.

A better understanding of plant drought responses is essential to improve plant water use efficiency, productivity, and resilience to ever-changing climatic conditions. Here, we investigated the growth, morpho-anatomical, physiological, and biochemical responses of Carruth., Murray, and Regel to progressive water-stress.
