NR4-ASC07 is a rare actinomycete isolated from soil in Sirindhorn peat swamp forest. The crude extract of its culture broth exhibited antimicrobial and anticancer against diverse human pathogens and cancer cells. The chemical investigation of the crude extract led to the isolation of two new metabolites named nonomuric acid () and 3-hydroxy deoxydaunorubicinol aglycone (), along with two known bioactive compounds [-rhodomycinone () and 7-deoxy-13-dihydrocarminomycinone ()]. Compounds and showed antimalarial activity with the half maximal inhibitory concentration (IC) of 8.00 and 8.88 μg mL, respectively. Compound inhibited growth of and at the minimum inhibitory concentrations of 50.0 and 12.50 μg mL, respectively. Every compound exhibited cytotoxicity against cancer cells tested at IC ≥ 6.34 μg mL. These finding are the first report of bioactive metabolites produced by strain NR4-ASC07, suggesting that rare actinomycetes are yet promising sources for novel drug discovery.

Background: Nocardia are widely present in nature and considered opportunistic pathogens. They can result in hematogenous spread infection through the ruptured skin or respiratory tract when the host's immune system is compromised. Currently, 119 species of Nocardia have been identified, with 54 capable of causing infections in humans.

Background: Although previous studies have reported the dysregulation of respiratory tract microbiota in infectious diseases, insufficient data exist regarding respiratory microbiota imbalances in the lower respiratory tracts of children with pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB). In this study, we assessed the value of mNGS in the pathogen diagnosis and microbiome analysis of PTB patients using bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) samples.

Methods: A total of 64 participants, comprising 43 pediatric PTB and 21 pediatric pneumonia patients were recruited in the present study.
