Peroxiredoxins are abundant peroxidase enzymes that are key regulators of the cellular redox environment. A major subgroup of these proteins, the typical 2-Cys peroxiredoxins, can switch between dimers and decameric or dodecameric rings, during the catalytic cycle. The necessity of this change in quaternary structure for function as a peroxidase is not fully understood. In order to explore this, human peroxiredoxin 3 (Prx3) protein was engineered to form both obligate dimers (S75E Prx3) and stabilised dodecameric rings (S78C Prx3), uncoupling structural transformations from the catalytic cycle. The obligate dimer, S75E Prx3, retained catalytic activity towards hydrogen peroxide, albeit significantly lower than the wildtype and S78C proteins, suggesting an evolutionary advantage of having higher order self-assemblies.

This study introduces a novel methodology for estimating and analysing coastal cliff degradation, using machine learning and remote sensing data. Degradation refers to both natural abrasive processes and damage to coastal reinforcement structures caused by natural events. We utilized orthophotos and LiDAR data in green and near-infrared wavelengths to identify zones impacted by storms and extreme weather events that initiated mass movement processes.

In this study, we explore the photovoltaic performance of an innovative high efficiency heterostructure utilizing the quaternary semiconductor CuFeSnSe (CFTSe). This material features a kesterite symmetrical structure and is distinguished by its non-toxic nature and abundant presence in the earth's crust. Utilizing the SCAPS simulator, we explore various electrical specifications such as short circuit current (J), open circuit voltage (V), the fill factor (FF), and power conversion efficiency (PCE) were explored at a large range of thicknesses, and the acceptor carrier concentration doping (N).

Succinyldiamide derivatives are important structural motifs in various natural products, pharmaceuticals, and functional materials. Herein, a novel, mild, and environmentally friendly method was developed for synthesizing functionalized succinyldiamides each containing a quaternary carbon center. This strategy was designed to involve photocatalytic decarboxylation of readily available oxalic monoamide using a non-precious metal photocatalyst, 4CzIPN, followed by a free-radical addition/Smiles rearrangement cascade reaction of -aryl--(arylsulfonyl)acrylamides.

The adsorption and aggregation of amphiphiles at different solvent interfaces are of great scientific and technological importance. In this study, interfacial tension measurements of surface-active compounds-ionic liquid 2-dodecyl-2,2dimethylethanolammonium bromide (12Cho.Br) and cationic surfactant cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB)-were conducted both in the absence and presence of ciprofloxacin (CIP).
