Incremental Value of SPECT/CT in the Detection of Femoral Head Viability in Slipped Capital Femoral Epiphysis.

Published: June 2018

In this article, we discuss the role of Tc-methylene diphosphonate SPECT/CT in 2 cases of slipped capital femoral epiphysis. We describe the incremental value of SPECT/CT in determining the viability of the femoral head and the implications in management of patients with slipped epiphysis.

Aims: This economic model was developed to assess the budget impact of a novel radiotracer, Flurpiridaz (F-PET-MPI), compared to SPECT-MPI from a US payer perspective.

Materials And Methods: The model was developed comparing F-PET-MPI and SPECT-MPI, with F-PET-MPI modality share increasing from 0.5% to 2.

Many patients cannot tolerate low-dose weekly methotrexate (MTX) therapy for inflammatory arthritis treatment due to life-threatening toxicity. Although biologics offer a target-specific therapy, it raises the risk of serious infections and even cancer due to immune system suppression. We introduce an anti-inflammatory arthritis MTX ester prodrug using a long-circulating biocompatible polymeric macromolecule: folic acid (FA) functionalized hyperbranched polyglycerol (HPG).

The prognostic utility of heart rate and blood pressure response to regadenoson stress.

J Nucl Cardiol

October 2024

Division of Cardiology, Cook County Health, Chicago, IL, USA; Division of Cardiology, Rush University Medical Center, Chicago, IL, USA. Electronic address:

Background: Although heart rate response (HRR) to regadenoson stress has been shown to be a strong predictor of outcome, it has not been investigated in a large all-comers cohort. The prognostic utility of systolic blood pressure response (SBPR) has not been investigated in comparison with HRR.

Methods And Results: In a retrospective cohort of 10,227 patients undergoing regadenoson stress single-photon emission computed tomography myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI), HRR, and SBPR were calculated as 100×(peak hyperemia value-baseline value)/baseline value.

Value of Ischemia and Coronary Anatomy in Prognosis and Guiding Revascularization Among Patients With Stable Ischemic Heart Disease.

Circ Cardiovasc Imaging

September 2024

Department of Imaging, Fondazione Toscana Gabriele Monasterio, Pisa, Italy (A. Giorgetti, A. Gimelli).

Background: The value of physiological ischemia versus anatomic severity of disease for prognosis and management of patients with stable coronary artery disease (CAD) is widely debated.

Methods: A total of 1764 patients who had rest-stress cadmium-zinc-telluride single-photon emission computed tomography myocardial perfusion imaging and angiography (invasive or computed tomography) were prospectively enrolled and followed for cardiac death/nonfatal myocardial infarction. The CAD prognostic index (CADPI) was used to quantify the extent and severity of angiographic disease.

Objective: Myocardial blood flow (MBF) assessment can provide incremental diagnostic and prognostic information and thus the validation of dynamic SPECT is of high importance. We recently developed a novel cardiac phantom for dynamic SPECT validation and compared its performance against the GE Discovery NM 530c. We now report its use for validation of a new hybrid SPECT/CT System featuring advanced cadmium zinc telluride (CZT) technology in a ring array detector design (StarGuide™, GE HealthCare).
