This study assessed whether a novel psychosocial intervention could reduce symptoms of postnatal depression (PND) in the first 40 weeks post-birth. Analyses were carried out of 134 mothers with symptoms of PND randomised into 10 weeks of group singing workshops or group play workshops for them and their babies, or usual care (trial registration: NCT02526407). Overall, among all mothers with symptoms of PND, there was a non-significant faster improvement in symptoms in the singing group (F 4,262 = 1.66, P = 0.16, η 2 = 0.012). When isolating mothers with moderate-severe symptoms of PND, this result became significant, with a faster improvement in symptoms in the singing group (F 3.9,139.8 = 2.74, P = 0.033, η 2 = 0.028). Declaration of interest None.

Purpose: Pathological nipple discharge (PND) is associated with malignancy. This study aimed to investigate the value of fiberoptic ductoscopy (FDS) and the feasibility of immediate injection of methylene blue after FDS to identify discharging ducts and intraductal lesions without overflow of methylene blue during surgery.
Methods: From May 2019 to December 2023, 164 PND patients were enrolled.

: Amyloidosis is a disorder characterized by the abnormal folding of proteins, forming insoluble fibrils that accumulate in tissues and organs. This accumulation disrupts normal tissue architecture and organ function, often with serious consequences, including death if left untreated. Light-chain amyloidosis (AL) and hereditary transthyretin-type amyloidosis (hATTR) are two of the most common types.

Metastasis is the leading cause of mortality from esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). By the time of diagnosis, most ESCC tumors have already invaded the lymph nodes or distant organs; however, it has been challenging to identify and confirm genes with a crucial role in ESCC metastasis. The microfibrillar-associated protein 2 (MFAP2) is upregulated in human ESCC, and its expression level was positively associated with poor overall and disease-free survival.

Autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) are characterized by deficits in social functioning, stereotyped patterns of behaviors, narrowed interests, and elevated anxiety. Certain ASD symptoms can persist, whereas others may improve throughout the lifespan, but the specific patterns of changes have not been clearly delineated. Using a valproic acid (VPA) rat model of ASD, the present study took a developmental approach and examined how autistic-like behaviors, including anxiety-like behavior, object obsession, and social functioning deficits, manifested differently in three critical periods representing preadolescent (postnatal day [PND] 25), adolescent (PND 45), and adulthood life stage (PND 75) in a sex-dependent manner.
