Neurenteric cysts (NECs) are rare congenital, benign lesions of the central nervous system (CNS), predominantly located within the spinal cord. However, they may also occur less frequently within the brainstem, fourth ventricle, or cerebellopontine angle (CPA). Originating from anomalous interactions between embryonic layers, NECs are recognized for their potential to compress adjacent structures.

Neurocysticercosis, a parasitic infection of the central nervous system (CNS), is a significant public health issue globally, including in Brazil. This article presents a case report of a 44-year-old male patient residing in the rural area of Roraima, the northernmost region of Brazil within the Amazon Forest. The patient, with chronic HIV infection, acquired the helminth, resulting in neurocysticercosis development.
