Ischemic stroke is a major cause of adult disability. Early treatment with thrombolytics and/or thrombectomy can significantly improve outcomes; however, following these acute interventions, treatment is limited to rehabilitation therapies. Thus, the identification of therapeutic strategies that can help restore brain function in the post-acute phase remains a major challenge.

Platform chemicals from renewable resources with broad applications are highly desirable, particularly for replacing fossil-based monomers. Bifunctional aliphatic ester-aldehydes, accessible via regioselective hydroformylation of unsaturated oleochemicals, can be converted into linear ω-amino/ω-hydroxy esters and dicarboxylic acids-key building blocks for biobased aliphatic polycondensates. However, their success hinges on efficient, economically viable production, with catalyst recycling being critical.

In some species, CRCs of MPro enzymatic activity can exhibit biphasic behavior in which low ligand concentrations activate the enzyme whereas higher ones inhibit it. While this behavior has been attributed to ligand-induced dimerization, quantitative enzyme kinetics models have not been fit to it.

Airway surgeries pose great challenges for the anesthesiologists as the airway is shared by them and the surgeon. It is of paramount importance to have control of the airway during such surgeries. Many techniques have been employed to provide uninterrupted oxygenation to the patient with or without the presence of a definitive airway.

An electrochemical method for the oxidative dearomatization of electron-deficient phenols by employing tetrabutylammonium bromide as a mediator under aqueous biphasic conditions is reported. This approach represents a safer alternative to the use of stoichiometric chemical oxidants and enables oxidative dearomative spirolactonization and spiroetherification reactions. Compared to previous approaches based on direct electrolysis, this strategy expands the substrate scope to electron-deficient phenols.
