The third International Electronic Conference on Medicinal Chemistry, organized and sponsored by MDPI AG, publisher, and the journal , took place in November 2017 on the SciForum website (www.sciforum.net/conference/ecmc-3). Around 300 authors from 34 different countries participated at the event, which hosted more than 70 presentations, keynotes, videos, and posters. A short description of some works presented during that scientific meeting is disclosed in this report.

Ethanol, a bioactive compound prevalent in both social and industrial applications, is present in alcoholic beverages as well as a range of everyday products. In food, ethanol functions primarily as an additive or a by-product of fermentation, while in pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, it serves as a solvent or preservative. Despite its widespread use, three critical research gaps exist in current literature.

Background: Although intravesical Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) immunotherapy usually exhibits a favorable safety profile, it can lead to the development of BCG infections, both localized and disseminated. Understanding of BCG infections following intravesical BCG immunotherapy is limited because of the lack of consensus definitions of BCG infections and limited post-instillation follow-up. We aim to perform a systematic review of the literature of BCG infections following intravesical BCG immunotherapy to elucidate the epidemiology, risk factors, and outcomes of BCG infections.

Programmed cell death protein-1 (PD-1) inhibitors plus chemotherapy have been the standard of care in the first-line treatment of advanced gastric or gastroesophageal junction (G/GEJ) adenocarcinoma; however, the survival benefits are modest in patients with low programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1) expression. Here we investigated the efficacy and safety of cadonilimab (PD-1/cytotoxic T lymphocyte antigen-4 (CTLA-4) bispecific antibody) plus chemotherapy as first-line treatment in G/GEJ adenocarcinoma. The prespecified interim analysis is reported here.

Researchers face inevitable difficulties when evaluating theory-based hypotheses in the context of contingency tables. Log-linear models are often insufficient to evaluate such hypotheses, as they do not provide enough information on complex relationships between cell probabilities in many real-life applications. These models are usually used to evaluate the relationships between variables using only equality restrictions between model parameters, while specifying theory-based hypotheses often also requires inequality restrictions.

This study aims to assess the clinical efficacy and feasibility of the Perclose ProGlide Suture-Mediated Closure System (Abbott Vascular, Redwood City, CA, USA) for transbrachial access. A total of 100 patients from July 2020 to December 2023 were included in this retrospective study. Among them, 40 patients underwent ProGlide-guided suture closure following brachial artery (BA) puncture, while 60 patients received traditional manual compression.
