This study focuses on the effects of organic loading rate (OLR) on the removal of N,N-Dimethylformamide(DMF), m-Cresol (MC) and isopropyl alcohol (IPA) by a pilot-scale anaerobic membrane bioreactor (AnMBR) for treating chemical synthesis-based antibiotic solvent wastewater at period of improved influent COD concentration with decreased HRT. The whole process was divided into five stages in terms of the variation of OLR ranging from 3.9 to 12.7 kg COD/(m·d). During 249 days of operating time, the average DMF, MC, IPA removal efficiency were 96.9%,98.2% and 96.4%, respectively. Cake layer was accumulated on the membrane surface acted as a dynamic secondary biofilm which lead to the increase of physical removal rate. In addition, mathematical statistical models was built on the linear regression techniques for exploring the inner relationship between EPS and the performance of the AnMBR.

The photocatalytic reduction of CO in water to produce fuels and chemicals is promising while challenging. However, many photocatalysts for accomplishing such challenging task usually suffer from unspecific catalytic active sites and the inefficient charge carrier's separation. Here, a site-specific single-atom Ni/TiO catalyst is reported by in situ topological transformation of Ni-Ti-EG bimetallic metal-organic frameworks.

Enhancing the passivation of heavy metals and increasing organic matter content during the composting of sewage sludge poses significant challenges for maximizing its utilization value. Results indicated that in the control, biochar, microbial agents and microbial agents-loaded biochar (BCLMA) groups, BCLMA addition led to a higher composting temperature, with increases of 17-62% in humic acid, 25-73% in germination index, and 30-35% in organic matter consumption. And the residual fraction of Cu, Zn, Cr and Cd were increased by 30%, 12%, 22%, and 17%, respectively.

Two features of macrophages make them attractive for targeted transport of drugs: they efficiently take up a broad spectrum of nanoparticles (NPs) and, by sensing cytokine gradients, they are attracted to the sites of infection and inflammation. To expand the potential of macrophages as drug carriers, we investigated whether macrophages could be simultaneously coloaded with different types of nanoparticles, thus equipping individual cells with different functionalities. We used superparamagnetic iron oxide NPs (SPIONs), which produce apoptosis-inducing hyperthermia when exposed to an alternating magnetic field (AMF), and co-loaded them on macrophages together with drug-containing NPs (inorganic-organic nanoparticles (IOH-NPs) or mesoporous silica NPs (MSNs)).

Photocatalytic technology for removing organic dye pollutants has gained considerable attention because of its ability to harness abundant solar energy without requiring additional chemical reagents. In this context, YF spheres doped with Yb, Er, Tm (YF) are synthesized using a hydrothermal method and are subsequently coated with a layer of graphitic carbon nitride (g-CN) with Au nanoparticles (NPs) adsorbed onto the surface to create a core-shell structure, designated as YF: Yb, Er, Tm@CN-Au (abbreviated as YF@CN-Au). The core-shell composites demonstrate remarkable stability, broadband absorption, and exceptional photocatalytic activity across the ultraviolet (UV) to near-infrared (NIR) spectral range.

Total antioxidant capacity (TAC) is an important indicator for assessing the merit of natural plants and foods. Herein, a visual TAC assay is developed based on the oxidase-like activity of nitrogen-doped carbon nanotubes loaded with Fe nanoparticles (FeNPs@NCNT), which is prepared via high-temperature pyrolysis of metal-organic framework precursors and can catalyze the oxidation of colorless -phenylenediamine (OPD) to colored 2,3-diaminophenazine (DAP). The addition of antioxidants (e.
