Accurate identification of coal and gangue is a crucial guarantee for efficient and safe mining of top coal caving face. This article proposes a coal-gangue recognition method based on an improved beluga whale optimization algorithm (IBWO), convolutional neural network, and long short-term memory network (CNN-LSTM) multi-modal fusion model. First, the mutation and memory library mechanisms are introduced into the beluga whale optimization to explore the solution space fully, prevent falling into local optimum, and accelerate the convergence process.

Background: During the land-to-sea transition of cetaceans (whales, dolphins, and porpoises), the hindlimbs were lost and replaced by an elaborate tail fluke that evolved 32 Ma. All modern cetaceans utilize flukes for lift-based propulsion, and nothing is known of this organ's molecular origins during embryonic development. This study utilizes immunohistochemistry to identify the spatiotemporal location of protein signals known to drive appendage outgrowth in other vertebrates (e.

Dolphins have become famous for their ability to perform a wide variety of athletic and acrobatic behaviors including high-speed swimming, maneuverability, porpoising and tail stands. Tail stands are a behavior where part of the body is held vertically above the water's surface, achieved through thrust produced by horizontal tail fluke oscillations. Strong, efficient propulsors are needed to generate the force required to support the dolphin's body weight, exhibiting chordwise and spanwise flexibility throughout the stroke cycle.

Tunas, lamnid sharks, modern whales, and derived ichthyosaurs converged on the thunniform body plan, with a fusiform body, lunate caudal fin, compressed peduncle, and peduncle joint. This evolutionary convergence has been studied for a long time but little is known about whether all four clades share any skeletal characteristics. Comparisons of vertebral centrum dimensions along the body reveal that the four clades indeed share three skeletal characteristics (e.

Background: Dugongs are marine mammals with a crescent-shaped tail fluke and a concave trailing margin that belong to the family ., They are distributed widely in the warm coastal waters of the Indo-Pacific region. Importantly, the population of dugongs has decreased over the past decades as they have been classified as rare marine mammals.
