Background: Pedicle screw insertion in posterior spinal surgery can cause vascular injuries, including rare intercostal artery pseudoaneurysms, which are typically discovered incidentally during reimaging. Onyx embolization is an effective treatment for small artery pseudoaneurysms.

Observations: A 36-year-old man who had initially presented with back pain that remained unresponsive to nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs was diagnosed with a T7-8 sarcomatous lesion confirmed by magnetic resonance imaging and biopsy.

Intramedullary spinal cord metastasis (ISCM) is a rare manifestation of renal cell carcinoma (RCC). A 73-year-old man presented with left shoulder pain and left upper extremity weakness for two months. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed intramedullary and intradural extramedullary lesions at the C5 level, compressing the spinal cord from the center of the cord and the left ventral side.

Detecting asymptomatic cement pulmonary embolisms following vertebral augmentation using dual-energy computed tomography pulmonary angiography.

Department of Medical Imaging, National Taiwan University Hospital, Taipei, Taiwan; Department of Medical Imaging, National Taiwan University Cancer Center, Taipei, Taiwan.

Background And Purpose: Dual-energy computed tomography (DECT) pulmonary angiography can reliably detect cement pulmonary embolisms (CPEs) and parenchymal perfusion defects. This prospective observational study investigated CPEs in asymptomatic patients using DECT.

Methods: We enrolled 42 patients who underwent vertebroplasty or received cement screws for vertebral augmentation, examining them using spinal computed tomography and DECT pulmonary angiography.

Research Question: The goal of this study was to assess the diagnostic accuracy of spinal time-resolved contrast-enhanced MR angiography (4D-MRA) for the detection and localization of spinal dural arteriovenous fistulas (SDAVF) in our institution.

Material And Methods: Single center retrospective cohort study of patients with the clinical suspicion of a SDAVF. Patients were included who had undergone spinal 4D-MRA in the period January 2010-February 2021.

Aberrant anatomical variation of the vertebral artery (VA) from an internal carotid artery (ICA) is considered a rare finding. The incidence of this phenomenon can lead to patients suffering from posterior circulation neurological deficit if the ICA becomes significantly diseased. VA atypical anatomical origin is considered one of the rare pathologies, not only precipitating neurovascular incidents but equally leading to severe difficulty in VA dissection and surgical exposure, especially in carotid artery procedures.
