In the European region, diphtheria is now rarely suspected in patients presenting with upper respiratory tract symptoms. is the underestimated zoonosis that is replacing infections in industrialized countries, but extensive human and animal prevalence studies are lacking. The range of hosts that can act as reservoirs for is very broad, companion pets currently being the main source of human infection.

Healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) remain a critical public health issue, as they contribute to prolonged treatment duration, increased healthcare costs, and heightened risks of morbidity and mortality. In head and neck cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy, thermoplastic masks (TMs), which come into direct contact with the skin, represent a potential vector for infection. Additionally, the storage racks where these masks are kept may also facilitate microorganism transmission.

Background: Hepatitis B virus (HBV) and neonatal tetanus infections remain endemic in Nigeria despite the availability of safe, effective vaccines. We aimed to determine health facilities' capacity for hepatitis B vaccine birth dose (HepB-BD) and maternal tetanus-diphtheria (Td) vaccination and to assess knowledge, attitudes, and practices of HepB-BD and maternal Td vaccine administration among health facility staff in Nigeria.
Materials And Methods: This was a cross-sectional study assessing public primary and secondary health facilities in Adamawa and Enugu States.

Background: Several important vaccines differ in immunogenicity and efficacy between populations. We hypothesised that malaria suppresses responses to unrelated vaccines and that this effect can be reversed-at least partially-by monthly malaria intermittent preventive treatment (IPT) in high-transmission settings.
Methods: We conducted an individually randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of the effect of malaria IPT with dihydroartemisinin-piperaquine on vaccine responses among schoolchildren aged 9-17 years in Jinja district, Uganda.
