Successful pregnancy relies directly on the placenta's complex, dynamic, gene-regulatory networks. Disruption of this vast collection of intercellular and intracellular programs leads to pregnancy complications and developmental defects. In the present study, we generated a comprehensive, spatially resolved, multimodal cell census elucidating the molecular architecture of the first trimester human placenta.

Article Synopsis
  • LBR, a shrub native to East Asia, has shown promise as an anticancer and antibacterial agent, though its effectiveness against triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) was previously unclear.
  • Research found that LBR’s ethanol extract can cause TNBC cell death by halting cell growth, causing S-phase arrest, and triggering apoptosis.
  • RNA sequencing indicated that LBR alters genes related to cell adhesion and inhibits certain cancer-promoting proteins, showing potential as a safe chemotherapeutic option for breast cancer treatment.

Induction chemotherapy followed by concomitant chemoradiation is the standard therapy for patients with locoregionally advanced NPC. There is a limitation of clinical studies that compare different induction regimens. The purpose of this work is to analyze the efficacy of two distinct chemotherapy regimens, docetaxel, cisplatin, and 5-fluorouracil (TPF) and gemcitabine/cisplatin (GP), in treating patients with loco-regionally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC).
