The crystal structures of americium species containing a common multifunctional phosphine oxide ligand, reported for its ability to extract f elements from acidic solutions, namely, 2,6-[PhP(O)CH]CH-NO, L, were finally determined after over three decades of separations studies involving these species and their surrogates. The molecular compounds Am(L)(NO), Am 1:1, and [Am(L)(NO)][2(NO)], Am 2:1, along with their neodymium and europium analogues, were synthesized and characterized using single-crystal X-ray crystallography, attenuated total reflectance Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and luminescence spectroscopy to provide a comprehensive comparison with new and known analogous complexes.

We present a photocatalytic protocol for the -arylation of carboxylic acids using nickel complexes bearing C8-pyridyl xanthines. Our studies suggest that the underlying mechanism operates independently of external photosensitizers. Stoichiometric experiments and crystallographic studies characterize the catalytically relevant Ni complexes.

The multi-step macroautophagy/autophagy process ends with the cargo-laden autophagosome fusing with the lysosome to deliver the materials to be degraded. The metazoan-specific autophagy factor EPG5 plays a crucial role in this step by enforcing fusion specificity and preventing mistargeting. How EPG5 exerts its critical function and how its deficiency leads to diverse phenotypes of the rare multi-system disorder Vici syndrome are not fully understood.

The Ru(IV,IV), Ru(III,IV), and Ru(III,III) complexes with the doubly oxido- and/or hydroxido-bridged diamond core {Ru(μ-O(H))}, bridged by an η:η:μ-type bidentate sulfato ligand, [{Ru(L)}(μ-O)(μ-OSO)] ( = 1: [III,IV]; = 2: [IV,IV]), [{Ru(L)}(μ-O)(μ-OH)(μ-OSO)] ([III,IV_1H]), and [{Ru(L)}(μ-OH)(μ-OSO)] ([III,III_2H]) (L = ethylbis(2-pyridylmethyl)amine), were synthesised as ClO-salts, and their crystal and electronic structures investigated. The corresponding hydrogencarbonato-bridged Ru(III,III) complex, [{Ru(L)}(μ-OH)(μ-OCOH)] ([III,III(HCO3)_2H]), was also prepared and its crystallographic and electronic structures compared to those of the sulfato-bridged system, [III,III_2H]. All the sulfato-bridged complexes isolated were confirmed in the Pourbaix diagram, wherein the redox potential was plotted as a function of pH.

Macrocyclic Diterpenoids from Possessing Activity Towards Autophagic Flux.

Int J Mol Sci

December 2024

State Key Laboratory of Functions and Applications of Medicinal Plants & College of Pharmacy, Guizhou Provincial Engineering Technology Research Center for Chemical Drug R&D, Guizhou Medical University, Guiyang 550014, China.

Euphjatrophanes H-L (-), four new jatrophane-type and one new lathyrane-type diterpenoid, were isolated from , along with eight known diterpenoids (-). Their structures were established on the basis of extensive spectroscopic analysis and X-ray crystallographic experiments. All compounds were subjected to bioactivity evaluation using flow cytometry in autophagic flux assays with HM mCherry-GFP-LC3 cells, the human microglia cells which stably expressed the tandem monomeric mCherry-GFP-tagged LC3.

Asymmetric gem-Hydroboration and gem-Hydrogenation of Ynamides: A New Gateway to Chiral Fischer Carbene Complexes and their Catalytic Transformations.

Angew Chem Int Ed Engl

January 2025

Max-Planck-Institut fur Kohlenforschung, Organometallic Chemistry, Kaiser-Wilhelm-Platz 1, 45470, Mülheim/Ruhr, GERMANY.

Ynamides, when reacted with H2 or HBpin in the presence of [Cp*RuCl]4, convert into chiral-at-metal Fischer carbenes by regioselective gem-hydrogenation or gem-hydroboration of the polarized triple bond, respectively. gem-Hydroboration concomitantly affords a carbogenic borylated stereocenter adjacent to the ruthenium carbene unit, the configuration of which can be controlled using an Evans auxiliary. These are the first examples of asymmetric gem-addition reactions to alkynes known in the literature; representative pianostool ruthenium carbene complexes formed by this unconventional route were characterized by crystallographic and spectroscopic means.
