Introduction: Teeth and facial muscles play a very important role in occlusal equilibrium and function. Occlusal derangement, seen in unilateral partially edentulous individuals, has an effect on masseter muscle anatomy and function. The present study aims to evaluate masseter muscle thickness in unilateral partial edentulism.
Patients And Methods: Institutional ethics committee approval was obtained before the commencement of the study. The study involved patients who routinely visited the Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology, Sri Ramachandra University. The study sample included 27 unilateral edentulous patients (Group E) and 30 controls (Group C). The masseter muscle thickness was evaluated using high-resolution ultrasound real-time scanner (linear transducer - 7.5-10 MHz) at both relaxed and contracted states.
Statistical Analysis Used: The results were analyzed using paired -test and independent -test. Duration of edentulism and muscle thickness was assessed using Pearson's correlation coefficient.
Results: The study patients' age ranged between 25 and 48 years (mean - 36 years). The comparative evaluation of masseter muscle thickness between the dentulous and edentulous sides of experimental group was statistically significant ( < 0.05). However, no statistically significant difference in masseter muscle thickness was found between the dentulous side of control and experimental groups. The correlation between the duration of partial edentulism and muscle thickness was statistically insignificant.
Conclusion: The study proves masseter atrophy in the edentulous side. However, since the difference is found to be marginal with the present sample, a greater sample is necessary to establish and prove the present findings as well as to correlate with the duration of edentulism. Further studies are aimed to assess the muscle morphology after prosthetic rehabilitation.

Objective: To assess the prevalence of changes on computed tomography (CT) in Graves' orbitopathy (GO) and to correlate those changes with disease activity, as well as with clinical and biochemical variables.
Materials And Methods: This was a retrospective study, conducted at a tertiary hospital, of clinical, biochemical, and imaging data from consecutive patients with GO who underwent at least one orbital CT scan between July 2012 and December 2020. A single observer quantified the thickness of the extraocular muscles and the degree of proptosis.

Necrotizing soft tissue infections (NTSIs) represent a concept of necrotizing infections involving the skin, subcutaneous tissue, fascia, and muscle, and it is a potentially fatal disease. Early exploratory incision is strongly recommended for both the diagnosis and treatment of necrotizing soft tissue infections. Treatment of necrotizing soft tissue infections requires the administration of appropriate antimicrobial agents and adequate surgical debridement.

Understanding the significance of handgrip strength is essential for identifying frailty in heart failure patients. The aim of this study was to identify the association between handgrip strength and cardiorespiratory endurance while highlighting the importance of the musculoskeletal system in cardiac rehabilitation for patients with heart failure. An observational cross-sectional study was conducted at Harapan Kita Hospital, Jakarta, Indonesia, from April 2022 to April 2023, among patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) attributed to cardiomyopathy or coronary artery disease.

Background: In male patients, benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH) and overactive bladder (OAB) secondary to BPH are the primary causes of Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms (LUTS). Recent clinical studies have reported an increased risk of LUTS, particularly severe LUTS conditions, in male asthmatic patients. However, the potential link and mechanism remain unclear.

Background: Biomechanical studies suggest that the triceps brachii muscle generates resistive force against valgus stress on the elbow during baseball pitching. However, given the parallel fiber orientation in the distal tendinous structure of the triceps brachii, the mechanism behind this anti-valgus force remains unclear. In the present study, we aimed to examine the anatomy of the distal tendinous structure of the triceps brachii using bony morphological, macroscopic, and histological methods.
