and are both plants belonging to the Asteracea family and are traditionally used for their medicinal properties. It has already been shown that some -alkylamides (NAAs) are responsible for these pharmacological actions. Therefore, in the present study, the NAA content of the two plants was analytically characterised. Different extracts were prepared from the roots, the leaves, the stems and the flowers. The structures of NAAs have been assigned in ethanolic extracts of and using high performance liquid chromatography - electrospray ionisation - mass spectrometry (HPLC-ESI-MS) and gas chromatography - electron impact - mass spectrometry (GC-EI-MS). Using both analytical techniques, the structures of 14 and 15 NAAs have been assigned in and , respectively. Structures of two new NAAs, previously never observed in , were assigned: deca-2E,6Z,8E-trienoic acid 2-methylbutylamide (homospilanthol) or a related isomeric compound and deca-2E,4E-dienoic acid -methyl isobutylamide. The structure of homospilanthol or a related isomeric compound was also assigned in for the first time.

Bridging the Gap Between Computational Efficiency and Segmentation Fidelity in Object-Based Image Analysis.

Animals (Basel)

A critical issue in image analysis for analyzing animal behavior is accurate object detection and tracking in dynamic and complex environments. This study introduces a novel preprocessing algorithm to bridge the gap between computational efficiency and segmentation fidelity in object-based image analysis for machine learning applications. The algorithm integrates convolutional operations, quantization strategies, and polynomial transformations to optimize image segmentation in complex visual environments, addressing the limitations of traditional pixel-level and unsupervised methods.

Impact of Structured Reporting of Lower Extremity CT Angiography on Report Quality and Workflow Efficiency.

Diagnostics (Basel)

September 2024

Clinic for Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology, Heidelberg University Hospital, Im Neuenheimer Feld 420, 69120 Heidelberg, Germany.

We assessed the effects of structured reporting (SR) of lower extremity CT angiography (CTA) on report quality and workflow efficiency compared with conventional reports (CR). Surveys were conducted at an academic radiology department before and after the introduction of an SR template. Participants ( = 39, 21) rated report quality and report creation effort (1: very dissatisfied/low to 10: very satisfied/high) and whether SR represents an improvement over CR (1: completely disagree to 5: completely agree).

With recent advances in multi-color super-resolution light microscopy, it is possible to simultaneously visualize multiple subunits within biological structures at nanometer resolution. To optimally evaluate and interpret spatial proximity of stainings on such an image, colocalization analysis tools have to be able to integrate prior knowledge on the local geometry of the recorded biological complex. We present MultiMatch to analyze the abundance and location of chain-like particle arrangements in multi-color microscopy based on multi-marginal optimal unbalanced transport methodology.

The effects of Mn-, Zn- or Cu-nanosuccinate added to freezing extender on select post-thaw semen characteristics were determined in six Texel rams (aged 2-4 years) during seasonal anestrus (April-May). Ejaculates (n = 6 per ram) collected into an artificial vagina were divided into ten isovolumetric fractions each. Semen was diluted in lactose-yolk-tris-citrate-glycerin medium and nanosuccinates (Mn- and Zn-nanosuccinate: 0.

Nanomaterials as a Service (NaaS) concept: on-demand protocols for volume synthesis of nanomaterials.

Nanoscale Horiz

Department of Chemistry-Ånsgtröm, Physical-Chemistry Division, Uppsala University, Lägerhyddsvägen 1, Uppsala 751 20, Sweden.

Establishing scalable nanomaterials synthesis protocols remains a bottleneck towards their commercialisation and, thus, a topic of intense research and development. Herein, we present an automated machine-learning microfluidic platform capable of synthesising optically active nanomaterials from target spectra originating from prior experience, theorised or published. Implementing unsupervised Bayesian optimisation with Gaussian processes reduces the optimisation time and the need for prior knowledge to initiate the process.
