Background: Children with end-stage heart failure listed for cardiac transplantation may require mechanical ventilation and/or circulatory support whilst awaiting transplantation. A subgroup of these patients is unable to wean off mechanical ventilator support and undergo tracheostomy to enhance quality of life and allow de-escalation of intensive care. There is limited evidence of the use of tracheostomy associated with pediatric cardiac transplantation.

Background: To date, several studies have demonstrated that erroneous labeling of Penicillin allergy (PAL) can significantly impact treatment options and result in adverse clinical outcomes, while other studies have reported no negative effects. Therefore, to systematically evaluate these effects and investigate the association between adverse clinical outcomes and the Penicillin label, we conducted this meta-analysis.
Method: Searches were conducted in the PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science databases from inception to 13 July 2024.

Background: The benefits of spontaneous ventilation (SV)-video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) in octogenarian patients with non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) have rarely been reported. This retrospective study was conducted to evaluate the safety and feasibility of SV-VATS in octogenarian patients with NSCLC.
Methods: Patients with NSCLC aged >80 years who underwent SV-VATS or mechanical ventilation (MV)-VATS between 2017 and 2022 were included in this study.
