For the first time, several low-viscosity diamino protic ionic liquids (DPILs), based on azolides as anions (pyrazolide, imidazolide and triazolide) have been synthesised, characterised and evaluated for CO capture. The results reveal that these ionic liquids rapidly absorb CO to more than 20% w/w pointing towards equimolar absorption.
