Aims: To determine (i) whether insulin preparations produced by three companies induce the same immune responses in insulin-naïve children with type 1 diabetes (T1DM); (ii) if switching from human insulin to rapid-acting insulin analogs influences this immune response; and (iii) if different insulin brands produce different clinical results during the first 2 yr after T1DM diagnosis.

Methods: Insulin antibodies (IA) were measured for 140 patients aged 1.4-17.

Pol Merkur Lekarski

January 2003

Klinika Gruzlicy i Chorób Płuc Instytutu Medycyny Wewnetrznej Uniwersytetu Medycznego w Łodzi.

The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of single and repeated fexofenadine (120 mg/day) doses on histamine-induced bronchoconstriction. Sixteen patients with mild, stabile asthma were examined. Bronchial reactivity was estimated as histamine dose (in mg/ml) causing a 20% FEV1 fall.

Peptide hormones are often rapidly internalized after binding to and activation of their receptors which are sometimes over-expressed on tumor cells. Thus, peptide ligands are increasingly being utilized for specific tumor cell targeting and internalization of radioactive isotopes for tumor imaging and for specifically delivering and internalizing cytotoxic moieties. Here, we describe a new carbamate linker system containing a series of built-in nucleophile assisted releasing (BINAR) groups which enable the 'fine-tuning' of intracellular cleavage rates of free cytotoxic agents containing reactive OH groups.
