FeO/graphite (FeO/C) and nano-TiO-coated glass bead were prepared by impregnation and sol-gel method respectively and employed as the catalyst of a novel three-dimensional electrode photoelectrocatalytic (3-D PEC) system. The photoexcited electrons can transfer from TiO, FeO to counter electrode. It improves the migration of photoexcited charges, retards the fast recombination of electron-hole, and increases the lifetime of photogenerated holes (h). In addition, the cycle reaction of Fe/Fe on FeO/C surface enhanced the Fenton reaction which can produce more hydroxyl radicals (·OH) and promote the capacity of mineralization of the pollutants. This novel 3-D PEC system showed excellent performance for the degradation of berberine chloride form (BCF). At the pH value of 3, 93% BCF was removed within 60 min; besides, 98.64% COD removal rate, 78.96% mineralization, 21.47% mineralization current efficiency, and just 3.16 kW h gTOC energy cost were obtained in 120 min. In this study, we proposed the 3-D PEC mechanism. Electron spin resonance (ESR) and scavenging experiments suggest that the major reactive oxygen species (ROS) are superoxide radicals (O), ·OH, and h, while the role of sulfate radical (SO) is insignificant. This work provides a new dimension for the design of reactors for wastewater treatment and the construction of the 3-D PEC system can potentially be utilized in water purification.

The performance of photoelectrochemical (PEC) analysis system relies closely on the properties of the photoelectric electrodes. It is of great significance to integrate photoactive materials with flexible substrates to construct ultra-sensitive PEC sensors for practical application. This work reports a novel photoelectrode developed by immobilizing α-FeO nanoparticles (NPs)/defect-rich carbon nitride (d-CN), an excellent Z-scheme heterojunction photoelectric material, onto three-dimensional (3D) flexible carbon fiber textile.

Although being attractive materials for photoelectrochemical hydrogen evolution reaction (PEC HER) under neutral or acidic conditions, conjugated polymers still show poor PEC HER performance in alkaline medium due to the lack of water dissociation sites. Herein, we demonstrate that tailoring the polymer skeleton from poly(diethynylthieno[3,2-b]thiophene) (pDET) to poly(2,6-diethynylbenzo[1,2-b:4,5-b']dithiophene (pBDT) and poly(diethynyldithieno[3,2-b:2',3'-d]thiophene) (pDTT) in conjugated acetylenic polymers (CAPs) introduces highly efficient active sites for water dissociation. As a result, pDTT and pBDT, grown on Cu substrate, demonstrate benchmark photocurrent densities of 170 μA cm and 120 μA cm (at 0.

In this work, commercially available Polymethyl-meta-acrylate (PMMA) spectroscopy cells were modified on the external walls with films of TiO, TiO or TiO/TiO mixtures. Film characterization was carried out using SEM and UV-vis spectroscopy. The results of photocatalytic (PC), electro-oxidation (EO), and photoelectrochemical (PEC) experiments on the decolorization of a methyl orange (MO) model dye solution showed that while anatase provides better photocatalytic properties and the partially reduced TiO larger electronic conductivity, the TiO/TiO composite film behaves as a semiconductor substrate that combines the advantages of both materials (for PEC experiments for instance, decolorization values for the model dye solution using TiO, TiO and a TiO/TiO mixed film, corresponded to 35%, 46% and 53%, respectively).

Department of Gastroenterology, West China Hospital, Sichuan University, Chengdu 610041, Sichuan Province, China.

Background: The incidence of post-endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) cholangitis (PEC) in patients who underwent mechanical lithotripsy (ML) for large stone removal is high (up to 13.3%). One of the main causes is remaining small fragments or sludge that can impair normal biliary drainage.
