This paper deals with an application of duality theory in optimization to the construction of gap functions for quasi-variational inequalities. The same approach was investigated for variational inequalities and equilibrium problems in (Pac. J. Optim. 2(3): 667-678, 2006; Asia-Pac. J. Oper. Res. 24(3): 353-371, 2007), and the study shows that we can obtain some previous results for variational inequalities as special cases. Moreover, some applications dealing with the generalized Nash equilibrium problems and mixed variational inequalities are presented.

We study zero-sum stochastic games between a singular controller and a stopper when the (state-dependent) diffusion matrix of the underlying controlled diffusion process is degenerate. In particular, we show the existence of a value for the game and determine an optimal strategy for the stopper. The degeneracy of the dynamics prevents the use of analytical methods based on solution in Sobolev spaces of suitable variational problems.

Non-axisymmetric frictionless JKR-type adhesive contact between a rigid body and a thin incompressible elastic layer bonded to a rigid base is considered in the framework of the leading-order asymptotic model, which has the form of an overdetermined boundary value problem. Based on the first-order perturbation of the Neumann operator in the Dirichlet problem for Poisson's equation, the decohesion initiation problem is formulated in the form of a variational inequality. The asymptotic model assumes that the contact zone and its boundary contour during the detachment process are unknown.

Many machine learning problems can be formulated as non-convex multi-player games. Due to non-convexity, it is challenging to obtain the existence condition of the global Nash equilibrium (NE) and design theoretically guaranteed algorithms. This paper studies a class of non-convex multi-player games, where players' payoff functions consist of canonical functions and quadratic operators.

Moreover, physical limits are also considered. Specifically, the orientation and position coordination constraints and physical limits are modeled separately as equality and inequality constraints with coupled variables.
