The storage of metastable compounds and modifications of elements are of great interest for synthesis and other, e.g., semiconductor, applications. Whereas white phosphorus is a metastable modification that can be stored under certain conditions, storage of the extremely (light- and air-)sensitive form of arsenic, yellow arsenic, is a challenge rarely tackled so far. Herein, we report on the facile storage and release of these tetrahedral E molecules (E = P, As) using activated carbon as a porous storage material. These loaded materials are air- and light-stable and have been comprehensively characterized by solid-state P{H} MAS NMR spectroscopy, powder X-ray diffraction analysis, nitrogen adsorption measurements, and thermogravimetric analysis. Additionally, we show that these materials can be used as a suitable E source for releasing intact white phosphorus or yellow arsenic, enabling subsequent reactions in solution. Because the uptake and release of E are reversible, these materials are excellent carriers of these highly reactive modifications.

Van der Waals (vdWs) materials are promising candidates for hetero-integration with silicon photonics toward miniaturization and integration. VdWs materials like molybdenum telluride and black phosphorus, despite being prominent, exhibit air sensitivity, and their room temperature emissions can be significantly broadened by tens of meV. Here, a self-encapsulation strategy is developed to scalably synthesize robust 2D vdWs ErOCl with sub-meV narrow emissions at the telecom C-band.

Introduction: The objective of this study was to improve the economic value of the processed by-products of farmed miiuy croaker () by evaluating the nutrient composition and osteogenic activity of its bones. We prepared bone peptides (MMBP) and analyzed their osteogenic potential.

Methods: We assessed the osteogenic activity of MMBP by molecular docking, MC3T3-E1 cell proliferation assay and zebrafish growth model, and evaluated its effect on osteoporosis (OP) using a retinoic acid-induced osteoporosis rat model.

Nutrients in an aquatic system determine productivity, integrity and ecological status of the aquatic system. However, the excessive enrichment of these nutrients emanating from severe anthropogenic activity has substantially impacted water quality and biodiversity. There is diminutive information available on the water quality and trophic status of the northern Gulf of Lake Tana, Ethiopia due to accessibility difficulties.

Phosphorus Oxidation Controls Epitaxial Shell Growth in InP/ZnSe Quantum Dots.

InP/ZnSe/ZnS core/shell/shell quantum dots are the most investigated quantum dot material for commercial applications involving visible light emission. The inner InP/ZnSe interface is complex since it is not charge balanced, and the InP surface is prone to oxidation. The role of oxidative defects at this interface has remained a topic of debate, with conflicting reports of both detrimental and beneficial effects on the quantum dot properties.
