Trichoscopy has become an essential tool for the diagnosis of various diseases that affect the hair and scalp. Through dermatoscopy we identified a set of findings that share a circular shape of hair shafts. The objective of this study is to distinguish among the various forms of circular hairs in order to identify their peculiarities and to describe in which skin disorders they can be found.

Background: Pepper (Capsicum pubescens), one of five domesticated pepper species, has unique characteristics, such as numerous hairs on the epidermis of its leaves and stems, black seeds, and vibrant purple flowers. To date, no studies have reported on the complete assembly of the mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) of C. pubescens.

A series of differentially expressed circular RNAs (circRNAs), microRNAs (miRNAs), and messenger RNAs (mRNAs) were identified through sequencing in the hair follicle tissues of Hu sheep with small-waved and straight wool patterns. Based on these findings, the circCSPP1-miR-10a- (Bone Morphogenetic Protein 7) regulatory network was constructed. The preliminary study highlighted that miR-10a and the BMP7 gene exhibited not only significant differential expression across hair follicle tissues with different patterns in Hu sheep but also had an impact on the proliferation of hair papilla cells.

The self-assembly of lipopeptide (peptide amphiphile) molecules bearing single linear lipid chains has been widely studied, as has their diverse range of bioactivities. Here, we introduce lipopeptides bearing one or two cycloalkane chains (cycloheptadecyl or cyclododecyl) conjugated to the collagen-stimulating pentapeptide KTTKS used in Matrixyl formulations. The self-assembly of all four molecules is probed using fluorescence probe measurements to detect the critical aggregation concentration (CAC), and cryogenic-TEM and small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) to image the nanostructure.

Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) is a genetic condition characterized by an excessive response to androgens, leading to hairline regression in men and hair thinning at the vertex in women, which can negatively impact self-esteem. Conventional synthetic treatments for AGA are often limited by their side effects. In contrast, Thai medicinal plants offer a promising alternative with fewer adverse effects.
