Objective: The purpose of this study is to identify variables at the time of clinical presentation which place patients at higher risk for mortality following carotid endarterectomy (CEA) for symptomatic lesions. Further, this study will create a risk score for mortality within two years following CEA for symptomatic stenosis to help tailor future postoperative and long-term management by identifying patients who require heightened vigilance in postoperative care to facilitate survival.
Methods: The Vascular Quality Initiative (VQI) CEA module was queried for procedures performed for symptomatic (within 180 days) carotid bifurcation stenosis.

Background: Neonatal advanced practice providers (APPs) often work prolonged hours in high-acuity neonatal intensive care units (NICUs). It is imperative to understand how fatigue affects the APP's ability to react quickly following long shifts. There is a lack of data on the effects of shift length and fatigue on neonatal APP job performance and clinical decision-making.

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) reactivation is a recognized complication of long-term immunosuppressive or cytotoxic therapy, typically occurring during immunosuppression or within a few months after treatment. To mitigate this risk, hepatological societies recommend the use of nucleos(t)ide analogues (NA) for HBV reactivation prophylaxis, along with post-treatment monitoring; though, these recommendations are not universally consistent across different guidelines. We present a case of late HBV reactivation in a 76-year-old male with occult HBV infection who received rituximab-based therapy for chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
