Giant cell arteritis is a large- and medium-vessel vasculitis that has been described as a systemic disease process with disseminated vessel involvement. Advances in vascular imaging techniques have demonstrated that involvement of the large vessels of the upper and lower limbs may be more prevalent than was once thought, although the clinical implications of this are unknown. Isolated lower extremity claudication without systemic or classic cranial symptoms, especially as a primary manifestation of giant cell arteritis, is rare. We present the case of a patient with isolated bilateral limb claudication that rapidly progressed to critical limb ischemia requiring urgent surgical intervention after steroid therapy. Our patient has consented to the publication of this report.

Background: It remains unclear whether the newly adopted high-power, short-duration (HP-SD) setting in ablation for atrial fibrillation (AF) impacts periprocedural thrombotic markers or silent stroke (SS) onset.
Objective: The aim of the present study was to investigate the clinical impact of HP-SD setting ablation on changes in periprocedural thrombotic markers and the onset of SS.
Methods: We enrolled 101 AF patients: the HP-SD group (n = 67) using 50 W and the conventional ablation group (n = 34) using 30 to 40 W.
Our knowledge of which bone marrow cells affect red cell production is still incomplete. To explore the role of osteocytes in the process we performed bulk RNAseq of osteocytes isolated from control and phlebotomized mice. The top-upregulated gene following phlebotomy was , erythroferrone ( ).

Male ICR mice were randomly assigned to one of six groups: a control group, a model group, and four intervention groups comprising the isolate (SS18-50-L and SS18-50-H) and the wild type (GS18-L and GS18-H) strains. The model group and the intervention groups were administered a 3.

This study evaluated the potential of starch (ST) and carrageenan (CRG) in packaging film formulation. CRG isolated from the seaweed (SW) was blended with starch and cast to obtain films whose moisture content (MC), total soluble matter (TSM), degree of solubility (DS), water vapor permeability (WVP), opacity (O), contact angles (CA), moisture absorption (MA), and percent elongation (PE) were evaluated.

Many studies have suggested that plants belonging to this genus possess strong cardio-protective potentials. Rats were pre-treated with crude methanolic extract and other fractions at a dose of 500 mg/kg followed by administration of Isoproterenol hydrochloride after 24 h for 2 days.
