Here we report an experimental observation of the self-organization effect of polystyrene particles formed by acoustically induced interaction forces. Two types of stable configurations are observed experimentally: one is mechanically equilibrium and featured by nonzero interparticle separations, and the other corresponds to a closely packed assembly, which is created by strong attractions among the aggregated particles. For the former case involving two or three particles, the most probable interparticle separations (counted for numerous independent initial arrangements) agree well with the theoretical predictions. For the latter case, the number of the final stable configurations grows with the particle number, and the occurrence probability of each configuration is interpreted by a simple geometric model.

The are a family of non-segmented positive-sense enveloped RNA viruses containing significant pathogens including hepatitis C virus and yellow fever virus. Recent large-scale metagenomic surveys have identified many diverse RNA viruses related to classical orthoflaviviruses and pestiviruses but quite different genome lengths and configurations, and with a hugely expanded host range that spans multiple animal phyla, including molluscs, cnidarians and stramenopiles,, and plants. Grouping of RNA-directed RNA polymerase (RdRP) hallmark gene sequences of flavivirus and 'flavi-like' viruses into four divergent clades and multiple lineages within them was congruent with helicase gene phylogeny, PPHMM profile comparisons, and comparison of RdRP protein structure predicted by AlphFold2.

The growing demand for efficient, stable, and environmentally friendly photovoltaic technologies has motivated the exploration of nontoxic perovskite materials such as KGeCl. However, the performance of KGeCl-based perovskite solar cells (PSCs) depends heavily on the compatibility of charge transport layers (CTLs) and optimization of device parameters. In this study, six PSC configurations were simulated using SCAPS-1D software, incorporating CTLs such as Alq, CSTO, VO, PB, and SbS.

In the frame of developing a sustainable chemical industry, heterogeneously catalyzed CO2 hydrogenation to methanol has attracted considerable interest. However, the Cu-Zn based catalyst system employed in this process is very dynamic, especially in the presence of the products methanol and water. Deactivation needs to be prevented, but its origin and mechanism are hardly investigated at high conversion where product condensation is possible.

Iron-doped nickel oxyhydroxides, Ni(Fe)OH, are among the most promising oxygen evolution reaction (OER) electrocatalysts in alkaline environments. Although iron (Fe) significantly enhances the catalytic activity, there is still no clear consensus on whether Fe directly participates in the reaction or merely acts as a promoter. To elucidate the Fe's role, we performed X-ray spectroscopy studies supported by DFT on Ni(Fe)OH electrocatalysts.

Delocalized multicenter bonds play a crucial role in clusters with a planar hypercoordinate center(s), making it difficult for highly electronegative elements, especially halogen atoms, to achieve the planar hypercoordinate arrangement. Herein, we introduce a star-like cluster Br6Li5-, whose global minimum contains a planar pentacoordinate bromine (ppBr). In this cluster, the central ppBr atom coordinates with five alkali metal Li atoms, which in turn bridge an equal number of electronegative Br atoms in the periphery, leading to the formation of the binary cluster Br6Li5-.
