We discuss the evolutionary implications of connections drawn between the authors' learned "secondary modules" and the habit-formation system that appears to be ubiquitous among vertebrates. Prior to any subsequent coevolution with social learning, we suggest that aspects of general intelligence likely arose in tandem with mechanisms of adaptive motor control that rely on basal ganglia circuitry.

The World Health Organization has confirmed that asbestos fibres are carcinogenic, claiming that asbestos-related diseases should be eradicated worldwide. Actinolite, amosite, anthophyllite, chrysotile, crocidolite, and tremolite are regulated asbestiform mineral phases. However, in nature, asbestos minerals occur either in a fibrous and asbestiform (original morphology characterized by high length-to-width ratio and provided of high tensile strength and flexibility) or fibrous but not asbestiform appearance.

Contemporary analyses of neurophysiological mechanisms of associative learning suggest that instrumental behavior can be controlled by separable action and habit processes. An increasingly broad range of human psychiatric and neurological disorders are now associated with maladaptive habit formation. The question of how the brain controls transitions into habit is thus relevant.

Background: The formation of gallstones is a multifactorial process involving lifestyle habits, lipid metabolism disorders, and genetic factors. This study aims to explore the association between 19 types of dietary fatty acids and gallstone disease using large-scale population data, assess the correlation between dietary fatty acids and serum fatty acids, and investigate the causal relationship between plasma lipids and gallstone disease from a genetic perspective.
Methods: We employed a cross-sectional study design, combined with logistic regression analysis to evaluate the association between dietary fatty acids and gallstone disease.

BackgroundStudies have shown that informal caregiving is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases. However, there is limited evidence on the mechanisms involved. To fill this knowledge gap, we investigated the association of informal caregiving with changes in health-related behaviors.
