The phage GC1 is a novel member of the family isolated from a juice sample collected during dry white wine making. The bacteriophage infects , an acetic acid bacterium which represents a spoilage microorganism during wine making, mainly because it is able to produce ethyl alcohol and transform it into acetic acid. Transmission electron microscopy revealed tail-less icosahedral particles with a diameter of ~78 nm. The linear double-stranded DNA genome of GC1 (16,523 base pairs) contains terminal inverted repeats and carries 36 open reading frames, only a handful of which could be functionally annotated. These encode for the key proteins involved in DNA replication (protein-primed family B DNA polymerase) as well as in virion structure and assembly (major capsid protein, genome packaging ATPase (adenosine triphosphatase) and several minor capsid proteins). GC1 is the first tectivirus infecting an alphaproteobacterial host and is thus far the only temperate tectivirus of gram-negative bacteria. Based on distinctive sequence and life-style features, we propose that GC1 represents a new genus within the , which we tentatively named "". Furthermore, GC1 helps to bridge the gap in the sequence space between alphatectiviruses and betatectiviruses.

Objectives: This study evaluates the effect of different irrigation solutions for postoperative pain in the regenerative endodontic treatments (RET) of necrotic teeth with open apex.
Materials And Methods: This study included necrotic, deeply carious lower molars of 42 patients. Access cavities of the teeth were opened and working lengths were measured at the first visit.

Nickel-NTA affinity chromatography is the current standard method for purifying Histagged recombinant proteins. However, this process involves repetitive tasks, can be time-consuming, and reduces protein yield. Here, we present a simple, fast, and handy method for purifying His-tagged proteins using free Ni²⁺.

Objective: To evaluate the available evidence comparing the use of the bedaquiline, pretomanid, linezolid, and moxifloxacin (BPaLM) regimen for 6 months with that of standard-of-care regimens for patients with multidrug-resistant or rifampin-resistant tuberculosis (MDR/RR-TB).
Methods: This was a systematic review of clinical trials comparing the use of the BPaLM regimen with the standard of care in patients with MDR/RR-TB. The main outcome measure was an unfavorable endpoint (a composite of death, treatment failure, treatment discontinuation, loss to follow-up, and recurrence), and secondary outcome measures included adverse events and serious adverse events.

Separation of polar compounds especially with similar polarities is challenging. In the present study, three polar compounds with similar polarities, including gentiopicroside, sweroside and mangiferin, have been successfully separated from Swertia mussotii by a combination of two counter-current chromatography modes. With the selected solvent system of ethyl acetate/n-butanol/water (8/2/10, v/v), a continuous injection mode was firstly employed.

Developing the mechanism for MOF formation is crucial for the rapid development of new materials. This work demonstrates that Deuterium-NMR spectroscopy is the optimal inter-laboratory methodology for understanding the in-situ kinetics of metal-organic framework (MOF) formation. This method is facile, affordable, and allows for the isolation and monitoring of individual reagents by using one deuterated component while the remaining components are protonated.
