Background: We developed a prototype of a novel thermochromic liquid crystal (TLC)–coated fabric with an extended temperature range and enhanced sensitivity. By incorporating color and pattern recognition into the fabric, rapid determination of the underlying pedal temperature is facilitated. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of the TLC fabric as a potential diagnostic aid for identifying complications in the high-risk foot.
Methods: The hands of 100 individuals were used to compare the mean maximum temperatures indicated by the fabric versus standard thermal camera images. Findings were statistically analyzed using a paired
Results: Except for the tip of the thumb and regions in the palm, there were no statistically significant differences between mean maximum temperatures measured with the thermal camera and those detected with the TLC fabric. Minor differences were relatively consistent in all nine regions of the hand and were not considered to be clinically significant.
Conclusions: Using direct visual analysis, we demonstrated that a novel TLC fabric could accurately map temperatures in the palmar surface of the hand. The findings support the continued development of a temperature-sensitive sock that can be used in the home to monitor for temperature changes that may indicate the onset of complications in the high-risk foot.

Introduction: An efficient and four-component one-pot facile synthesis of tetra-substituted imidazole is achieved by cyclo-condensation reaction of benzil with subsequent successive substitution of aromatic aldehydes, ester substituted amine and ammonium acetate via refluxing the mixture for almost two hours at 140°C.
Method: The ending point of the understudy reaction was examined by TLC after regular intervals. Synthesized 1,2,4-tetrasubstituted imidazoles were characterized by physical data and the structural features were analyzed using spectroscopic techniques such as FTIR, NMR and elemental analysis.

Phenylthiazide compounds are frequently utilized to construct electron donor-acceptor (D-A) dyes, exhibiting excellent fluorescence and colorimetric analysis performance due to their electron-rich properties. Three D-A type compounds 5a-c, featuring intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) characteristics, were designed and synthesized using phenothiazine as the donor and various aryl-substituted imidazoles as acceptors for the detection of hypochlorite. Additionally, the ICT properties of the compounds can be fine-tuned by introducing various substituents to achieve a more sensitive optical response to HClO/ClO.

As a hypertoxic natural toxin, the risk of Microcystin-leucine-arginine (MC-LR) residues in Bellamya aeruginosa deserves more attention. Herein, employing the conventional thin-layer chromatography (TLC) technology and a novel surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrate, a TLC-SERS chip was fabricated for the purification and quantitative detection of MC-LR in complex samples. The substrate exhibited excellent SERS performance with an enhancement factor of 6.
