Vancomycin-resistant (VRE) is now one of the leading causes of nosocomial infections in the United States. Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) recipients are at increased risk of VRE colonization and infection. VRE has emerged as a major cause of bacteremia in this population, raising important clinical questions regarding the role and impact of VRE colonization and infection in HSCT outcomes as well as the optimal means of prevention and treatment. We review here the published literature and scientific advances addressing these thorny issues and provide a rational framework for their approach.

Haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HCT) is an established treatment for a wide variety of haematological diseases, both malignant and non-malignant. Infectious and non-infectious post-HCT pulmonary complications are a major cause of morbidity and mortality, with non-infectious complications becoming more prominent in recent decades as prophylaxis has led to a decrease in infectious complications. Globally, these complications can be divided into three phases (neutropenic, early and late phase) depending on their time of onset in relation to the graft.

Post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder (PTLD) is a rare complication following hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT), with its occurrence post-autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (auto-HSCT) being even rarer. Research on PTLD following auto-HSCT is exceedingly scarce. Here, we present a noteworthy instance wherein a patient with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) developed PTLD, manifesting as classical Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL) two years after auto-HSCT.

Unlabelled: Hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPCs) arise only during embryonic development, and their identity specification, emergence from the floor of the dorsal aorta, and proliferation are all tightly regulated by molecular mechanisms such as signaling cues. Among these, Wnt signaling plays an important role in HSPC specification, differentiation, and self-renewal, requiring precise modulation for proper development and homeostasis. Wnt signaling is initiated when a Wnt ligand binds to cell surface receptors such as those encoded by the gene family, activating intracellular signaling pathways that regulate gene expression.

The hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) continues their functional integrity and return to quiescence quickly even after inflammatory and other proliferative stress. The mechanism which is responsible for this highly regulatory process is not understood clearly. Previous results have shown that CD53 is noticeably upregulated in HSCs in response to a variety of stimuli.

Background And Objectives: The immature platelet fraction (IPF) count is a parameter that quantifies young and reticulated platelets in peripheral blood, which reflects platelet production in the bone marrow. It has been used as a predictive model for bone marrow recovery in patients with acute leukemia after high-intensity chemotherapy and/or stem cell transplantation. This study aimed to evaluate IPF as a predictor of hematologic recovery in these patients.
