The Prototypical Majority Effect Under Social Influence. | LitMetric

Majority views are reported with greater confidence and fluency than minority views, with the difference increasing with majority size. This Prototypical Majority Effect (PME) was attributed generally to conformity pressure, but Koriat et al. showed that it can arise from the processes underlying decision and confidence independent of social influence. Here we examined the PME under conditions that differ in social influence. In Experiment 1, a robust PME emerged in the absence of information about the majority views, but the provision sof that information increased the choice of the majority view and magnified the PME. In Experiment 2, a PME emerged in a minority-biased condition that misled participants to believe that the majority view was the minority view, but the PME was stronger in a majority-biased condition. The results were discussed in terms of a dual-process view: The PME observed under social influence may contain externally driven and internally driven components.

Novel Survivorship Paradigms in Head/Neck Cancer.

Semin Radiat Oncol

April 2025

Department of Radiation Oncology, Northwestern University, Chicago, IL; Department of Medical Social Sciences, Northwestern University, Chicago, IL. Electronic address:

Long-term care for head and neck cancer (HNC) survivors is complex. Despite an improvement in survival and the evolution of treatment paradigms (de-escalation, targeted therapy), notably in the context of human papillomavirus (HPV)-related oropharyngeal cancers, HNC survivors still experience a wide range of side effects and needs, which impact their functionality, quality of life, survival and require concerted, coordinated survivorship care. In this review, we perform an overview of existing HNC survivorship recommendations within the context of novel evidence, our current understanding of survivorship care, and incorporate them into the Nekhluydov Survivorship Care Framework.

Introduction: Some stressors, like the death of a partner, are common and rigorously studied, while others, such as those related to climate change or social media, are just emerging and in need of systematic research. The New Jersey Population Health Cohort (NJHealth) Study aims to characterise established and emerging stressors and delineate the pathways through which they influence health, especially among groups likely to experience chronic exposure to stressors including immigrants, people of colour, multigenerational families and low-income families.

Methods And Analysis: A prospective cohort, the NJHealth Study is recruiting 8000 NJ residents aged 14 and older using probabilistic and purposive methods to include members of multigenerational families, marginalised racial/ethnic and low-income populations, and recent immigrant groups.
