Magnetic resonance of sodium fluorescence is studied with varying laser intensity, duty cycle, and field strength. A magnetometer based on a sodium vapor cell filled with He buffer gas is demonstrated, using a single amplitude-modulated laser beam. With a 589 nm laser tuned at the D or D line, the magnetic field is inferred from the variation of fluorescence. A magnetic field sensitivity of 150 pT/Hz is achieved at the D line. The work is an important step toward sensitive remote magnetometry with mesospheric sodium.

The thermal dehydration of sodium carbonate monohydrate (SC-MH) exhibits kinetic characteristics that are typical of the thermal decomposition of solids with a reversible nature. One of the characteristics is the physico-geometrical constraints of the reaction due to the heterogeneous reaction feature. Another factor is the considerable impact of the atmospheric and self-generated water vapor on the kinetics.

Almond shells (ASs) are a potential source of cellulose that could be obtained through sustainable methods for their valorisation. Biocomposites (BCs) from polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and cellulose are interesting materials for developing sustainable packaging materials. BC based on PVA and AS cellulose were obtained by melt blending and compression moulding, by using subcritical water extraction at 160 or 180 °C, and subsequent bleaching with sodium chlorite (C) or hydrogen peroxide (P) to purify cellulose.

Iodine, being an important resource, must be recovered and reused. Iodine is not only attracted to the hydrophobic silicone membrane but also easily vaporized. In this study, we explored the use of five types of silicone hollow fiber membrane modules (SFMMs) for separating iodine in the gaseous phase.

Alginate films were prepared from the brown seaweed Dictyota mertensii using glycerol as a plasticizer. The effects of extraction conditions-time, temperature, and NaCO concentration-on the optical, barrier, and mechanical properties of the films were investigated using a central composite design (CCD). ANOVA and F tests confirmed the models' statistical significance at p ≤ 0.
