Background: Kazakhstan inherited the Semashko health system model, known for the centralized adoption of rules at the Ministry of Health (MoH) level that regulate the healthcare system. In 2019 MoH established a national framework with indicators aimed at collecting qualitative and quantitative data from healthcare organizations as part of their annual self-evaluation, and biannual external evaluation by the National Research Center for Health Development (NRCHD). The purpose of this study was to pilot the MoH framework on rational use of medicines and evaluate its effects on medicine use practices in health care organizations and at the national level.

Intensive longitudinal data, increasingly common in social and behavioral sciences, often consist of multivariate time series from multiple individuals. Dynamic factor analysis, combining factor analysis and time series analysis, has been used to uncover individual-specific processes from single-individual time series. However, integrating these processes across individuals is challenging due to estimation errors in individual-specific parameter estimates.

Background: This post-hoc subgroup analysis aimed to estimate the potential cost-effectiveness of a Japanese multimodal intervention trial for the prevention of dementia (J-MINT) from a societal perspective.

Method: Using a Markov model, we estimated the economic impact of J-MINT on disease prevention, drawing on data from the 2019 J-MINT trial and relevant published literature. The trial, a randomized controlled trial (RCT), focused on participants aged 65 to 85 years with mild cognitive impairment.

Alzheimers Dement

December 2024

Karolinska Institutet, Solna, Stockholm, Sweden.

Background: Recent developments in blood biomarkers (BBM) have shown promising results in diagnosing amyloid pathology in Alzheimer's Disease (AD). However, information on how these BBMs can best be used in clinical settings to optimise clinical decision-making and long-term health outcomes for individuals with AD is still lacking. We aim to assess the potential clinical and economic value of BBM in AD diagnosis within the context of disease-modifying treatment (DMT).

Background: The Maintain Your Brain (MYB) randomised controlled trial (RCT) examined the effect of a multi-domain internet-based dementia prevention program against a control group (information only) over three years among Australians aged 55-77 years. A cost-effective analysis (CEA) quantified the differences in costs (direct healthcare and program costs) and effectiveness outcomes between the intervention and control groups from a health care sector perspective.

Method: An economic evaluation was conducted alongside the MYB trial.
