Acetonitrile Adduct [MoReCp(μ-H)(μ-PCy)(CO)(NCMe)]: A Surrogate of an Unsaturated Heterometallic Hydride Complex.

Inorg Chem

Departamento de Química Orgánica e Inorgánica/IUQOEM, Universidad de Oviedo , E-33071 Oviedo, Spain.

Published: February 2018

The title compound was prepared upon irradiation of acetonitrile solutions of the readily available hexacarbonyl [MoReCp(μ-H)(μ-PCy)(CO)]. The acetonitrile ligand in this compound could be replaced easily by donor molecules or displaced upon two-electron reduction. In most cases, the substitution step was followed by additional processes such as insertion into the M-H bonds, E-H bond cleavage, H elimination, and other transformations.

The novel diiron amine complexes [FeCp(CO)(NHR')(μ-CO){μ-CN(Me)(Cy)}]CFSO [R' = H, 3; Cy, 4; CHCHNH, 5; CHCHNMe, 6; CHCH(4-CHOMe), 7; CHCH(4-CHOH), 8; Cp = η-CH, Cy = CH = cyclohexyl] were synthesized in 49-92 % yields from [FeCp(CO)(μ-CO){μ-CN(Me)(Cy)}]CFSO, 1a, using a straightforward two-step procedure. They were characterized by IR and multinuclear NMR spectroscopy, and the structure of 7 was confirmed through X-ray diffraction analysis. Complexes 3-8 and the acetonitrile adducts [FeCp(CO)(NCMe)(μ-CO){μ-CN(Me)(R)}]CFSO (R = Cy, 2a; Me, 2b; Xyl = 2,6-CHMe, 2c) were assessed for their water solubility, octanol-water partition coefficient and stability in physiological-like solutions.

Radix Rehmanniae (RR) is a widely used herb in traditional Chinese Medicine with properties of tonifying the kidneys and nourishing the blood. Both raw and processed RR are effective for the treatment of diabetes in clinical practice. Oligosaccharides and iridoid glycosides are the primary active components responsible for the anti-diabetic effects of RR.

An efficient probe (E)-2-(benzo[d]thiazol-2-yl)-3-(9-ethyl-9 H-carbazol-3-yl)acrylonitrile (CZ-BTZ) for selective fluorescence "turn-on" response with cyanide (CN) ion sensor was developed by simple Knoevenagel condensation of 9-ethyl-9 H carbazole-3-carbaldehyde with 2-(benzo[d]thiazol-2-yl) acetonitrile. The sensing ability of probe CZ-BTZ was tested with different inorganic anions through spectrophotometric and spectrofluorimetric methods. The UV-vis and fluorescence spectral studies show the formation of a new adduct between CZ-BTZ and CN by appearing with a new absorbance band at 350 nm and "turn-on" fluorescence at 535 nm in CHCN: HO (8:2, v/v, pH 7.

Tunability in Heterobimetallic Complexes Featuring an Acyclic "Tiara" Polyether Motif.

Inorg Chem

January 2025

Department of Chemistry, University of Kansas, 1567 Irving Hill Road, Lawrence, Kansas 66045, United States.

Both cyclic "crown" and acyclic "tiara" polyethers have been recognized as useful for the binding of metal cations and enabling the assembly of multimetallic complexes. However, the properties of heterobimetallic complexes built upon acyclic polyethers have received less attention than they deserve. Here, the synthesis and characterization of a family of eight redox-active heterobimetallic complexes that pair a nickel center with secondary redox-inactive cations (K, Na, Li, Sr, Ca, Zn, La, and Lu) bound in acyclic polyether "tiara" moieties are reported.
