Unlabelled: Reliable suitability evaluation of donor material is the crucial issue of penetrating corneal transplantation. The main parameter to be considered is endothelial cell density (ECD). However, when it comes to practice, one has to admit significant variation in ECD readings of cadaver corneas obtained by different methods.
Aim: to investigate discrepancies in ECD measurements and to define objective criteria for the evaluation of a donor cornea before full-thickness grafting.
Material And Methods: In a hundred cadaver eyes, discrepancies in ECD measurements by different methods (specular microscopy, confocal microscopy, and keratoanalyzer) were studied and objective evaluation criteria developed along with an optimal algorithm of pretransplantation assessment. Digital fluorescence microscopy was chosen as the reference method.
Results: It has been established that a triple measurement average obtained with any of the tested methods is informative enough as to the state of the donor cornea.
Conclusion: The highest ECD values were obtained with specular microscopy, the lowest - with confocal microscopy. For reliable evaluation of donor corneas, we recommend that the average of a triple ECD measurement be taken using one of the mentioned methods.

Theory suggests that animals make hierarchical, multiscale resource selection decisions to address the hierarchy of factors limiting their fitness. Ecologists have developed tools to link population-level resource selection across scales; yet, theoretical expectations about the relationship between coarse- and fine-scale selection decisions at the individual level remain elusive despite their importance to fitness. With GPS-telemetry data collected across California, USA, we evaluated resource selection of mountain lions (Puma concolor; n = 244) relative to spatial variation in human-caused mortality risk.

Purpose: This study aimed to assess whether kidney stone burden and risk factors at the time of kidney donor evaluation were associated with a symptomatic stone event post-donor evaluation.
Methods: We identified adults evaluated at Mayo Clinic (two sites) (2000-2011) for living kidney donation and had either a personal history or radiological evidence of kidney stone disease. We analyzed demographics, stone risk factors, stone number/size, and the committee's donation decision and reasons.

Introduction: Since 2017, women with absolute uterine infertility due to Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser (MRKH) syndrome have been eligible to participate in a uterine transplantation clinical trial conducted by Foch Hospital in France. The aim of this study is to assess the psychological state of potential candidates, including recipients, their partners, and their living-related donors.
Material And Methods: Sixteen potential uterus transplant candidates, including recipients, partners, and living-related donors, participated in the study.

Background & objectives Alkaptonuria (AKU) is an autosomal recessive disease wherein biallelic pathogenic variants in the homogentisate 1,2- dioxygenase (HGD) gene encoding the enzyme homogentisate 1,2 dioxygenase cause high levels of homogentisic acid (HGA) to circulate within the body leading to its deposition in connective tissues and excretion in urine. A homozygous splice donor variant (c.87+1G>A) has been identified to be the founder variant causing alkaptonuria among Narikuravars, a group of gypsies settled in Tamil Nadu.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the correlation between longitudinal monitoring of donor-derived cell free DNA (dd-cfDNA) in lung transplant recipients and a "gold standard" of existing tools (pulmonary function testing, radiographic imaging, laboratory and bronchoscopy data, clinical judgment) to assess allograft function.
Methods: 24 consecutive transplant recipients were prospectively enrolled in this study measuring dd-cfDNA levels monthly in the first year after bilateral lung transplant. Blinded clinical adjudications were performed at the same timepoints to categorize allograft function as stable (FEV1 within 10% of prior value or when compared to best two averaged post-transplant values) or unstable.
