Pycnodysostosis (PDO) is a rare genetic disorder characterized by cathepsin K deficiency which plays an important role in bone metabolism. Among clinical features of this disease which are mainly caused by altered bone remodeling are craniofacial abnormalities such as hypoplastic maxilla and obtuse gonial angle which consequently lead to respiratory insufficiency in forms of pharyngeal narrowing and severe snoring. In this paper, another case of this rare disorder is presented along with a review on etiology and management issues of respiratory insufficiency in these patients.

Objective: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and chronic kidney disease (CKD) are significant global health issues with a well-established association between the two. This study aims to assess the risk of developing CKD in patients with COPD through systematic review and meta-analysis, and to explore the impact of CKD on the prognosis of COPD patients.
Methods: A total of 23 studies were included in the analysis, comprising 11 studies on the risk of CKD in patients with COPD, 6 studies on the impact of CKD on the short-term all-cause mortality risk of patients with acute exacerbation of COPD (AECOPD), and 6 studies on the impact of CKD on the long-term all-cause mortality risk of COPD patients.

Purpose: To examine the outcome of palliative endoscopic treatment of malignant central airway obstruction (CAO) and identify predictors for Days Alive and Out of Hospital (DAOH), overall survival and treatment related complications.
Methods: Consecutive adult patients treated endoscopically for malignant CAO at Aarhus University Hospital from 2012 to 2022 were included in the study. Statistical analyses were carried out to identify predictors for DAOH, survival and complications.
Often ill people are, first of all, patients with recurrent infectious and inflammatory diseases of the upper respiratory tract (URT). They put a significant financial burden on the healthcare system. The leading etiological factors of recurrent inflammatory diseases of URT, in addition to pathogenic bacterial microflora, are viral agents (viruses of the viral respiratory infections group, herpes viruses).
