This review gives a practical guide to the investigation and management of osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures. With an ageing population, the burden of disease and health system costs attributable to this common injury continue to rise. This article outlines the epidemiology, clinical and radiological assessment of vertebral compression fractures, and key decisions that must be made in their management. It reviews the indications and evidence for conservative vs operative treatment, discusses the rationale for vertebroplasty, kyphoplasty and spinal stabilization, and looks at outcomes in this vulnerable patient population. It also reviews key evidence underlying decision making including National Institute for Health and Care Excellence guidelines.

Background And Purpose: Congenital vertebral anomalies are commonly associated with underlying spinal cord anomaly which necessitates imaging both the spinal cord and the bony vertebral column to understand the extent of the deformity better. While MRI is the gold standard for spinal cord imaging, it does not provide CT-like bone details. Many MR bone imaging techniques have been tested in various adult spine conditions in the past decade but not much has been described on their reliability in pediatric spine.

Low back pain after spine surgery is a major complication due to excessive epidural fibrosis, which compresses the lumbar nerve. Macrophage-myofibroblast transition (MMT) promoted epidural fibrosis in a mouse laminectomy model. Previously, we demonstrated that LincR-PPP2R5C regulated CD4 + T-cell differentiation.

The prototype of a biomimetic multi-spiked connecting scaffold (MSC-Scaffold) represents an essential innovation in the fixation in subchondral trabecular bone of components for a new generation of entirely cementless hip resurfacing arthroplasty (RA) endoprostheses. In designing such a functional biomaterial scaffold, identifying the microstructural and mechanical properties of the host bone compromised by degenerative disease is crucial for proper post-operative functioning and long-term maintenance of the endoprosthesis components. This study aimed to explore, depending on the occurrence of obesity, changes in the microstructure and mechanical properties of the subchondral trabecular bone in femoral heads of osteoarthritis (OA) patients caused by the MSC-Scaffold embedding.

(1) Background: Testicular cancer, although accounting for only 0.5% to 1% of all solid male cancers, is the most common malignancy in males aged 15 to 35 years. Non-seminomatous germ cell tumors (NSGCT) represent nearly half of all testicular germ cell tumors and are associated with a more aggressive clinical course.
