A general efficient and site-selective cobalt-catalyzed insertion of isonitrile into C-H and N-H bonds of arylamides through C-H bond activation and alcohol assisted intramolecular trans-amidation is demonstrated. This straightforward approach overcomes the limitation by the presence of strongly chelating groups. Isolation of Co -isonitrile complex B has been achieved for the first time to understand the reaction mechanism.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on the development of a new type of rigid, three-dimensional polymers known as stepladder polymers, utilizing spirodihydroquinoline structures.
  • These polymers are created through a reaction facilitated by a scandium catalyst that activates specific chemical bonds, allowing for the formation of complex structures from quinoline and alkyne compounds.
  • The resulting polymers have increased thermal stability and porosity after undergoing a treatment that adds a methyl group to their nitrogen-containing functional groups.

Pd(OAc)-Catalyzed Synthesis of Imidazo[1,2-]phenanthridines via a Sequential Ullmann Coupling and Oxidative Coupling Dehydrogenation.

J Org Chem

School of Chemistry and Materials Science, Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Green Synthesis for Functional Materials, Jiangsu Normal University, Xuzhou, Jiangsu 221116, China.

The Ullmann coupling and oxidative coupling dehydrogenation reactions have occurred sequentially, catalyzed by Pd(OAc), which unexpectedly yielded fused imidazo[1,2-]phenanthridine derivatives in good to high yields. Structural analysis of the intermediate and final products indicated that the protocol did not include C-H and N-H arylation.

stabilization of known, but solution unstable, methylidene complex [Ir(Bu-PONOP)(=CH)][BAr ] allows single-crystal to single-crystal solid/gas reactivity associated with the {Ir=CH} group to be studied. Addition of H results in [Ir(Bu-PONOP)(H)][BAr ]; exposure to CO forms iridium(I) carbonyl [Ir(Bu-PONOP)(CO)][BAr ], and reaction with NH gas results in the formation of methylamine complex [(Bu-PONOP)Ir(NHMe)][BAr ] via an aminocarbene intermediate. Periodic density functional theory and electronic structure analyses confirm the Ir=CH bond character but with a very low barrier to rotation around the Ir=CH bond.

The direct discharge of cationic surfactants into environmental matrices has exponentially increased due to their wide application in many products. These compounds and their degraded products disrupt microbial dynamics, hinder plant survival, and affect human health. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop electroanalytical assessment techniques for their identification, determination, and monitoring.

High-level quantum chemical calculations are performed for the (NH)MO and (NH)MO species (M = Ti-Cu), extending our previous work on the bare MO ions. The potential energy curves along the M-O distance are constructed for the ground and multiple excited electronic states of (NH)MO and are compared to those of MO. We see that ammonia stabilizes the oxo states (MO) over the oxyl (MO) ones.
