Published: December 2017

The of North Indian Classical Music (NICM) have been historically known to elicit emotions. Recently, Mathur et al. (2015) provided empirical support for these historical assumptions, that distinct elicit distinct emotional responses. In this review, we discuss the findings of Mathur et al. (2015) in the context of the structure of NICM. Using, Mathur et al. (2015) as a demonstrative case-in-point, we argue that of NICM can be viewed as uniquely designed stimulus tools for investigating the tonal and rhythmic influences on musical emotion.

Background: Healthcare-associated bloodstream infections (BSI) threaten patient safety and are the third most common healthcare-associated infection (HAI) in low- and middle-income countries. An intensive-care-unit (ICU) based HAI surveillance network recording BSIs was started in India in 2017. We evaluated this surveillance network's ability to detect BSI to identify best practices, challenges, and opportunities in its implementation.

Background: Coronary angioplasty and stent insertion is a first line treatment for patients with coronary artery disease, however it is complicated in the long-term by in-stent restenosis (ISR) in a proportion of patients with an associated morbidity. Despite this, currently there are no effective treatments available for the prevention of ISR. Repeat percutaneous revascularisation carries increased risks of major adverse cardiovascular events and a higher incidence of stent failure.

Expanding families: a pilot study on preconception expanded carrier screening in Bahrain.

BMC Pregnancy Childbirth

Genomic Precision Diagnostic Department, Igenomix FZ LLC, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Background: Preconception expanded carrier screening (ECS) is a genetic test that enables the identification of at-risk carriers of recessive disorders by screening for up to hundreds of genes. Next-generation sequencing (NGS) development has paved the way for its integration into ECS. This study aims to identify the carrier genetic status of couples experiencing or anticipating conception challenges through NGS-based ECS and to gain an overview of the rare genetic disorders in a population with increased consanguinity.

Purpose: Physical rehabilitation (PR) in the intensive care unit (ICU) may improve outcomes for survivors but clinical trial results have been discordant. We hypothesized that discordant results may reflect treatment heterogeneity received by "usual care" comparator groups in PR studies. Usual-care PR is typically underspecified, which is a barrier to comparing results across treatment studies.
