We prepared the "sheet-type hydrogel" (gel sheet), a sheet consisting of PEG-grafted chitosan and cross-linkable polymeric micelles, that were expected to be used for wound healing. We optimized the PEG-modification process, evaluated the strain-dependence of the gel's properties to obtain flexible gel sheets, and evaluated the drug-release properties of the gel sheets. Finally, we succeeded in observing that the release of the antibiotic tetracycline (TET) from the gel sheet in which TET existed only in the cross-linkers was lower than the release of TET from the sheet in which TET was dispersed in the polymer networks. Our research demonstrates that the strategy of incorporating drug carriers into gel sheets might benefit the construction of biomaterials with controllable drug-release properties.

The concentration of small molecules reflects the normality of physiological processes in the human body, making the development of simple and efficient detection equipment essential. In this work, inspired by a facile strategy in point-of-care detection, two devices were fabricated to detect small molecules via photocurrent measurement. A linear response of the photocurrent against the concentration of the small molecules was found.

In this study, a new environmentally friendly and efficient method for recycling and reusing waste polyurethane sheets is proposed. SiO aerogel was prepared using the sol-gel method, and mullite whiskers were introduced to enhance its toughness. The whisker-toughened aerogel was used in the degradation of waste polyurethane to produce modified recycled polyol, which was subsequently used to prepare recycled polyurethane foam insulation material.

Sesbania grandiflora, a fast-growing shrub from the Fabaceae family, is extensively researched for its therapeutic properties. Despite its highly valued medicinal properties, there have been no reports on exploring the proteome of Sesbania grandiflora. The present study aims to address this gap by investigating the proteomic profile of Sesbania grandiflora seeds with a primary focus on identifying storage proteins.

To investigate the effects of β-carotene on the gelling and digestion properties of surimi gels and the underlying molecular mechanisms, the gel properties, moisture distribution, rheological properties, secondary structure and microstructure were determined at different β-carotene concentrations (0 % ∼ 0.1 %). The results indicated that β-carotene levels from 0.

The ultrashort peptide -fluorenylmethoxycarbonyl-phenylalanyl-phenylalanine (FmocFF) has been largely investigated due to its ability to self-assemble into fibrils (100 nm-μm scale) that can form a sample-spanning gel network. The initiation of the gelation process requires either a solvent switch (water added to dimethyl sulfoxide) or a pH-switch (alkaline to neutral) protocol, both of which ensure the solubility of the peptide as a necessary step preceding gelation. While the respective gel phases are well understood in structural and material characteristics terms the pregelation conditions are known to a lesser extent.
