Two specific polysaccharides, together with an →4)-α-d-Glcp-(1→ glucan (bacterial glycogen), were obtained from a lipopolysaccharide preparation isolated from the bacterium Pseudomonas putida BIM B-1100 by phenol/water extraction. The following structures of the polysaccharides were established by composition analysis, Smith degradation, ESI-MS, and 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopy.

Background: Aquaculture systems that sporadically depend on antibiotics can contribute to the development of adverse effects on the fish, microbial flora and the environment. This study sought to investigate the impacts of extended oxytetracycline supplementation on the freshwater stinging catfish through a multi-biomarker approach.
Methods: A total of 300 (20 ± 0.

Methyl ketones, key building blocks widely used in diverse industrial applications, largely depend on oil-derived chemical methods for their production. Here, we investigated biobased production alternatives for short-chain ketones, adapting the solvent-tolerant soil bacterium as a host for ketone biosynthesis either by whole-cell biocatalysis or using engineered minicells, chromosome-free bacterial vesicles. Organic acids (acetate, propanoate and butanoate) were selected as the main carbon substrate to drive the biosynthesis of acetone, butanone and 2-pentanone.
