Aim: Adherent-invasive Escherichia coli (AIEC) pathovar has been identified in intestinal mucosa of patients with Crohn's disease. Our aim was to compare the impact of sterile mucosal media (Muc-M) originated from different parts of the intestine on some pathogenic traits of AIEC LF82 strain.
Materials & Methods: Muc-M composed of certain rates of cell culture medium or M63 minimal medium and mucosal contents obtained from different part of intestine were designed for cell-infection experiments and biofilm-formation assays.
Results: The results showed that Muc-M reduced usually pathogenic properties of AIEC LF82. However, LF82 adhesion, invasion and specific biofilm formations were markedly higher in Muc-M than those in Muc-M .
Conclusion: In this context, the findings of present study could help the endeavors related to determining molecular targets for AIEC bacteria.

With invasion of the muscularis propria layer of the rectal wall, the risk of lymph node metastasis becomes too high to consider this the optimal oncological treatment. Effective closure of both muscular and mucosal defects after endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) remains a technical challenge. Failure to adequately address such defects may increase the risk of delayed perforation. In this video case report, we demonstrate the application of the through-the-scope (TTS) tack system for defect closure following ESD in a patient with a cecal lesion.

Photobiomodulation (PBM), a noninvasive phototherapy using wavelengths ranging between red and near-infrared light, has emerged as a promising approach for controlling inflammation by modulating macrophage polarization. This review investigates the therapeutic potential of PBM in treating ear, neck, and throat (ENT)-specific inflammatory conditions, such as chronic rhinosinusitis and otitis media, focusing on its effects on macrophage phenotypes and evidence from preclinical studies. By promoting mitochondrial activity, increasing ATP production, and modulating reactive oxygen species, PBM has been shown to shift macrophages from a proinflammatory to an anti-inflammatory phenotype.

Background: Bowel-preserving local resection of early rectal cancer is less successful if the tumor infiltrates the muscularis propria as opposed to submucosal infiltration only. Magnetic resonance imaging currently lacks the spatial resolution to provide a reliable estimation of the infiltration depth.
