The state-of-the-art wound assessment is manually performed by clinicians. This is ineffective and imprecise. Special devices have been developed for automation, but they are expensive and often lack portability. We present a concept of a low-cost system for wound documentation and analysis. Using computer vision techniques, 3D reconstructions of wounds can be created from images taken with a simple camera, such as those embedded in mobile phones.

Introduction: Tat protein is a trans-activator of HIV-1 genome transcription, with additional functions including the ability to induce the chronic inflammatory process. Natural amino acid polymorphisms in Tat may affect its functional properties and the course of HIV infection. The aim of this work is to analyze the marks of Tat consensus sequences in non-A6 HIV-1 variants characteristic of the Russian Federation, as well as study natural polymorphisms in Tat CRF63_02A6 and subtype B variants circulating in Russia.

Blood pressure (BP) is a dynamic measure that is frequently discussed in static terms. There exist many limitations in current documentation systems whereby documented BP values may not be reflective of the dynamic variability of BP. This study used an observational, prospective, non-randomized study design to examine the variability in BP response during intravenous vasoactive medication administration in an intensive care unit setting.

Background: Moderate to severe postoperative pain is common among patients following thoracotomy and serves as a risk factor for developing chronic post-thoracotomy pain (CPTP). This randomized controlled trial evaluated the effects of pre-emptively administered ketamine compared to placebo and standard care on both acute postoperative pain and CPTP.

Methods: Two hundred patients were enrolled in this prospective, randomized trial.
